None of the aftermarket carpet sets have guides - you're suppose to use the ones from your existing carpet.Also, you may have not let it sit out in the sun long enough (usually in the instructions) to have it a little more pliable/workable.
As for stockinteriors vs accmats, I don't think you'll see any difference - I think the people on this forum have used both.
