So your getting online with everything else??Do you still have zone alarm installed/?? if so go to zone alarm, open it up. Go to the program control tab at the left. Then Click on the Programs Tab. Fined Iexplorer and make sure it has Green checks and not Red X's.
If it has red X's left click to click on allow. Did this work??

1. In addition to the recommendations above, I'd check to see if somehow it is trying to find a proxy server that does not exist.2. What does an "ipconfig /all" in a DOS command prompt window say? Is the network access completely normal otherwise? 3. Is IE in some kind of "off-line" mode? I don't know it, so this is a SWAG. 4. Have you tried a simple reboot (power cycle) just for the heck of it? Z

Go to microsoft.com, and re-install IE7.That's what I did when WMP stopped working correctly.

If you're run windows XP download and run this program: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.htmlThen reboot. Unless the IE registry keys are corrupt this will fix it If someone calls into work(working for Dell corporate support) with an internet problem I'll have them download that on another system and run it. The only time it doesn't work is if it's a hardware or spyware/virus problem. It takes care of everything else. Note: If you have customer IP settings you'll need to reenter them

| Quote, originally posted by danielekfuj » | i think i've tried everything. windows firewall is turned off, and all AV software has been uninstalled. Firefox, trillian, skype, limewire, etc. all work fine. the problem is with IE, which cannot connect to any servers. I installed Opera after I discovered that IE had stopped working, and it did not work either. I don't know what to do next. |
Use System Restore back to the last day it worked Telcoman

Your drivers for your wireless card may or may not be corrupt. It's a common problem really. Find your old driver CD or simply un-install all previous drivers for your wireless card and then go to the windows update site (or install from the CD) and update your wireless card driver. Sometime this works, other times it doesn't. Hope it helps.
I'm generally in the 23% area.

i hadnt used restore point until about a month ago. and oops, i forgot to post that i fixed teh problem. i ran a program called "enumprocess"? and it showed something from symantec. turns out that my old antivirus didn't get completely erased when i uninstalled it and was still blocking only some programs from the internetz.
