SWEEEET!! Please let us know how the flaring goes. I've never done that before, and am very curious to know the best technique. Not exactly a trail and error procedure.

sorry walter, i sold the stock rims a long time ago. right now i've got some orange Milano 18" rims on it...and they are going to be my backup rims. sorry man.

my new rims should be here by tuesday(4/29/08). i will probably get them on, roll the lips, and flare the fenders next week!! please check back for pics!

take a look at my profile(not my Zoints Profile) to see what rims i have now. I had to change the rims b/c i was getting tailed a lot by the poolice...the rims screamed "PULL ME OVER, AND GIVE ME A 'JUST BECAUSE' TICKET"

i got my rims in from UPS today!! i'm going to try to have them installed this week or next week. I have to test fit them with the fenders to see how much i need to roll the lip and flare the fenders!!

the rear 18x9.5 +30 will tuck perfectly with about 2mm to spare...but the center cap wont go on b/c the bearing cap is tall...so i'm going to use a 5mm spacer and space out the rears and flare the fenders about 1/4".

the fronts 18x8.5 +25 stick out about a 1/2"...so i will be rolling the fenders in the front and flaring them about 3/4"...that will work perfectly!! oh, and the NISMO rims totally clear the STILLEN brakes with about 2 fingers of extra space between the caliper and spokes!!!!!!

some pics!! sorry my car is FILTHY...it usually isn't like this

FRONT

REAR

mos def will be stretching the rears until they are worn out...then i'll get the 275/40/18!

i rented this...http://www.esetuning.com/produ...l.htm...and am going to use it to roll the lip on all fenders, but i don't know what i'm going to use to flare the fenders...i was thinking the old PIPE and ROLL technique.

Why are you going to flare the fenders? Are you on coils?

yup...i'm on the Eibach Coils and Tokico Struts...the fronts are too far out of the fender to drive it without hitting the fender.

Very impressive. I wouldn't have gone with a staggered setup on a FWD because of rotation issues, but this looks sweet.

It's a fender roller.

whew...i was getting worried b/c i thought everyone hated the setup(even though i'm building the car to my liking, it's nice to hear the input of other Max Enthusiasts)

the "blue thing" is a fender roller from ESE Tuning. I've got to get up some pics of the inside of the fenders so you can all see the fender folded edge.

i believe there's no real "need" to rotate if the alignment is kept perfect. and if the tire wear gets bad the rubber can be switched from front to back b/c they are all 245/40/18

Don't get me wrong, this setup looks sick, but I have one question: Are they real NISMO wheels? The only reason I ask is I noticed that they are a universal 5 lug without a Nissan, Z, or Nismo center cap. I'm not trying to bust your bubble, lightsout, but I just wanted to make sure you did not get ripped off. It does look good regardless.

he said he has the center cap but they wont clear the wheel bearings.so he is gonna use spacers after the mods so he can put them on(thats what i got out of it at least)PS: THAT SIHT LOOKS CLEAN!

Rays Engineering didn't make the Nismo Rims with "nismo" printed on the center cap. they used the plain aluminum center cap. They are Genuine Nismo Rims Imported from Japan. When you purchase the rims directly from Rays or a Tire shop(Discount Tire carries Rays Wheels) you have the option of selecting a different center cap if you like. The Nismo logo is printed on one of the spokes. "RE" is on the back of the Forged Rims, and stands for "Rays Engineering". Rays Engineering has re-designed the rim with the new Logo that has the open "O" instead of the closed "O". The rims i purchased are the previous logo, and have the closed "O"...this is exactly what i wanted b/c the new open "O" logo wasnt out untill 2004 i believe, and my car is a 2000...so it's a period correct logo, and matches the Nismo Emblem on the back of my maxima!!!

i took the rims down to Discount Tire to have the rubber switched over, and they told me that they are Genuine Nismo Rims. these rims MSRP for $600 per rim, and i got the entire set for $1525. Each rim comes in a cardboard box that say NISMO and RAYS ENGINEERING on them...they have a nissan parts sicker with the part number...i called up Nissan and asked about the part number, and it checked out.

so everyone checks out that they are REAL GENUINE NISMO RIMS, and i'm happy to have them on my Maxima!!

The center cap on the back of the Maxima wont go on b/c the rims were designed for the 350Z which has a lower profile cap in the back b/c of the independent suspension...thus, i have to space out the rims 5mm to get the caps to fit...and i'm thinking of purchasing caps that say "RAYS" on them, instead of the smoooth silver.

they are not a universal 5 lug b/c only 5 of the holes are used for lugs...the others do not go all the way down to the hub and are strictly for a LOWER UNSPRUNG WEIGHT

From the look of it, your suspension is lowered quite a bit. Keeping it "perfect" gets really difficult. My I30 was only dropped 1.5"-2" and I had it on the alignment rack every 2 months (with camber adjusters for the front).

It's true that my I30 had high mileage and the chassis probably wasn't as stiff and some of the bushings were probably shot, but either way, the alignment was a pain. Kind of like on my G35 right now. I bought my front tires used with around 60-70% tread on them earlier this year and with 5k on the tire, they are showing negative camber and toe-in wear.

You have TOTALLY REDEEMED yourself in my eyes lightsout.

I NEVER liked your maxima with the orange wheels...but you just did a total 180 degree turn in the right direction.

That is sick.

Now get some more full shots of the car!!!!
