I've been searching for a better car insurance company because I currently have Safe Auto and I hate them with a passion. Although my driving record isn't perfect, paying upwards of $190/month in insurance is ridiculous.

Any Infiniti is considered a luxury car, but with a 5 star crash rating, eleven billion airbags, security system, traction control, ABS, VLSD, CNN, HBO, etc, there's no excuse for luxury cars having a higher rate than, say, a base model Ford Taurus which has drum brakes in the rear, no traction, no ABS, no security system, no HBO, no extra airbags, no anything.

Any suggestions on where to get a good rate? (If you've seen commercials on TV for any insurance co., its automatically more expensive because not only are you paying for your own insurance, you're helping pay for their advertising - so Progressive, State Farm, eSurance, ect is out)

I use State Farm. The thing I like about them is that they cover my "classic" stuff as well... I'm old and have lots to insure, my rates are naturally pretty good.Happy shopping, --Mike

If you're eligible for USAA membership they generally have good rates.

The reason the I30/35 is more expensive to insure than a Taurus is that they are more expensive to repair in the event of damage. They also have more powerful engines.

I too use State Farm and have been for 23 years. When I traded teh 95 Q45 for the 01 I30 my rate actually dropped. I have my house and my cars on one policy and I pay 190 a month. Alot depends on your location. Denser areas pay more money due to more cars on the roed. Shop around, but look for a company that is easy to reach and a local rep also helps. I Live in North Carolina.

It helps when you can insure more than one thing with the same company. Unfortunately I've got great coverage on my house, but they only insure property, not vehicles.

I had State Farm but they changed my plan and lowered my deductible to zero without my knowledge. When I went in to write a check to renew my insurance they said I owed an extra $400 for the previous 6 months on top of the $920 I'd already paid. They couldn't show me a signature where I'd signed to change my plan, but still demanded the $400 from me, so I walked out. (They've still been trying to get the money from me, and have been charging interest on it since last year. They say I now owe them $750. My attorney says otherwise.)

I used to have State Farm Auto Insurance as well as my wife ever since she had been driving (20+ years). I stupidly got a DUI and State Farm instantly dropped me. No if ands or buts. No coverage once my local office reported it to their main HQ. They recommended I go see the Progressive agent in town. They even faxed over my insurance coverages (my local office was very cool about the situation). I went to see the Progressive agent (you can also do it online) and he gave me the exact same coverages I was getting from State Farm for LESS even with said special ticket. My savings over the last couple of years have since covered my fines. That's my 2 cents and know you guys know my dirty secret.

That's cool that they were able go give you a cheaper quote, but it makes me wonder how it was possible. (Also makes me wonder if State Farm was charging you too much in the first place.)

Check & see if there is a credit union you can join. Check with them & see if they offer group rates on insurance.

We get a group rate thru our credit union and haven't found any insurance company that could get close.

I actually do my banking at Notre Dame Credit Union. I'll have to check with them to see if they offer anything. Thanks!

I found this interesting. Some banks are now selling auto insurance as well. Wells Fargo I believe is one of them. I have my insurance through Nationwide and they are pretty good and cheap.

Insurance rates are highly dependent on 1) age/experience 2) location 3)car 4)type of insurance desired 5) number of incidents 6)any other discounts (i get several b/c i have everything with one place)

I would highly suggest at least calling an independant place that deals with several agencies. They can usually offer a price for several providers & explain the benefits of one versus the other.

You should also shop around for some punctuation! Just kidding around, but it would make your posts easier to read and people might take you a little more seriously.
