Hi guys, was on this forum for a while.. use to have a QX4. Loved it. Looking for a QX56, however from reading different posts from people some have had issues others no issues.

Thinking of getting a 2005 maybe a 2006 if i can get a good deal.

From what I understand the QX56 is more noisy inside then the older QX4, now I also understand the 2008 is more quite, however I don't have $50GzAnyone have input?

What about the engine? Any issues you guys have had? Should I expect any problems that are comon to all QX56's?

MPG, I do a lot of highway driving, I understand MPG is 12/17 and the gas tank is 25 gal? What do you guys actually get? and what type of driving do you do?

Anyone have larger wheels on your QX? Does this greatly effect the MPG?

Do the models without the quad captain's chair have rear heated seats?

Do all models have the Bluetooth feature? And does this work well? From what I've read people complain about this.

What are the options available, I'm assuming DVD is optional, and is there parktronics avaialable as an option?

One big thing. I test drove a 2008...LOVED IT. LOVED the talking navigation. Anyone know who has the older QX56 do a conversion so we can also have the voice command Navigation.

What year did they get rid of the Key? I noticed the 2008 was keyless go, and you just keep the remote in your pocket? I love this feature however don't think the 2005's have it.

I greatly appreicate all your input. Thanks guys.

I am not sure if it is there is more or less noise inside of the QX56 than the QX4. I owned an '04 QX56, and it did have some rattles. My '08 Armada is way quieter inside than my '04 QX56, that is for sure. Honestly, I have had absolutely no problems with the engine. That is probably one of the strongest points of this vehicle. The '04's and early '05's had a lot of rattles and squeaks, some paint issues (nicks), and the brakes were a huge issue as well. On my '04 they replaced the brakes and rotors, and my brake warranty was extended. I also received free scheduled maintenance for 4 years / 48,000 miles. Those were really my issues. Other than that I love my '04, and that is why when my lease was up, I purchased the '08 Armada.

I generally got around 16mpg.

You can get heated seats in either the captain chairs, or the solid bench, although the bench is much harder to come by in the QX56. I had the captain chairs before, now I have the bench in my Armada, works great now with a 16 month old.

DVD, and laser cruise were options.

The '08 model is when they first went keyless.

Hope this answers your questions, please ask me more if you have them, I would be glad to help you!

Thanks for your info man really this is why I love forums everyone is willing to help.

So why did you go with the Armada now vs the QX again? Also the maintenance for the first 4 years is included on the car? Is that for both the Nissan and the QX?

So if I find an 06 with low miles I would have free maintenace until 2010? thats a pretty good idea. Yea I've heard about the rattly interiors.. so the 06 is when they fixed this? I don't like the rattle..

I also was wondering what about the bluetooth is this standard on all models?

I should clear that up. The free maintenance was because of the brake issue. I believe they only did that on some 2004 QX56 models. Honestly, I don't know for sure what year they came out with the bluetooth. I think it was the 05' model.

The reasons I went with the Armada include the following:

- The '08 QX56 and '08 Armada now have basically the exact same interior.- Closest Infiniti dealer to me is 2 hours away, Nissan dealer is about 6 miles away.- $8,000 price difference between the two (saved at least $100/month on my payment)

Those are really my main reasons, I love both vehicles, I am so happy with both of them.

Well, I purchased a 2004 late last year and got a good deal. I didn't have the brake issue when I got it but I pulled a 16 foot trailer with a pickup truck that I bought and the brakes issue started the next day. I don't have a electronic brake controller in my QX, so I overheated the brakes. Now this for one shows that the brake system is overpowered because I have pulled trailers before with other vehicles with a large payload and never warped the rotors afterwards.

I do have all the options on my 04 except for the 7 inch screen and the DVD player. I have the rear captains chairs and yes, they are heated. I am going to buy a 06' before the end of the year. Fuel mileage isn't good, I get around 14-15 in the city and maybe 18 or so on the highway. However this thing will pull a hell of a trailer and payload like it isn't even hooked up. I'm not sure about the interior noise but I will say that mine has some rattles that I feel shouldn't be there for the money that you pay for it. It does have bump steer alot, whereas when you hit a large rut or bump it sort of goes where it wants to... A steering stabilizer would have solved this.

I like it alot but whenever you have a vehicle that is an upscale from another lesser vehicle then there will be problems.

I know that the 06 is the first year for the turn signals in the rear view mirrors and I think you get Bluetooth in the 06 model. I like it mostly because it make a statement. It's BIG and it looks good.

Hey overdalimit, It's nice to see someone else from my hometown actually on this forum. I bought an 06 late last year and have yet to be displeased.

I just put a hitch on it last week just in case I find a great deal out of town and need to tow it back. (06 was the first year where the hitch was optional)

I don't know how I missed your location before.

Not Political but I can see red paint on SUV just like animal fur coats.

Think carefully before you buy a SUV in the future climate.

To those people who like to be environmental..most of them are full of something.. who cares about what they think..

I do appreciate everyones help ended up getting an 06 QX..drove it across the northeast to get it back home.. got about 17mpg.. did manage to get 19.2 mpg at one point for a 3 hour trip..yes I was driving about 75...which isn't bad..

I'm glad to have gone with the 06 LOVE IT!!! It's great.. I love the bluetooth feature the DVD and the turn signals in the mirrors.. I really was hoping for the NAVI setup from the 08 I test drove, as the navi in the 08 is all voice activated. Our 06 has voice activation but just for cell phone and memo pad..

Any one try to upgrade the software to the 08 yet? I love the voice activated navi.. was so great.. The current navi is kind of hard to use in my opinion. But it's nice to have though. I loved my QX4, but this truck got that 5.6L non-HEMI motor that will enialate any Durango or Jeep haha.. Love the pickup and fuel economy to me isn't that bad. I get about 350 miles on the tank.

NAVI UPGRADE WOULD BE GREAT... any input guys?

It is not possible unless you start switching out the AV control unit and who knows what else. I would stick with what you have.

there's got to be a way...I can't stand the current navy (I DO LOVE THE SUV THOUGH) it's soo difficult to use!

I know the 08 is HDD based instead of DVD based, but software should be available either way right? I mean the 06 already has voice activation software..just would want to use that software with the navi fuctionality that's all..
