I've got a 87 Nissan hardbody SE-V6, with the stock VG30E motor. I wanted to know what motor swap would work on this truck. And what modification would be needed if any.?

Well if your sig is true then I would suggest keeping your engine and turboing it using the 300zx (1984-89) turbo system. It can be done very inexpensively and 300hp has been very common with the stock turbo/ fuel system, all of the vg bottom ends are good for 450+ whp. You should visit z31performance.com or 88hybrid.com for more info on the capabilities of the VG. peace.

NismoPU is right. BUT if you want to do a straight swap there has been some success from grabbing the VG30DET engine (3.0L Single Turbo) from a late 80's early 90's era Nissan 300. Stay away from the twin turbo VG30DETT units as your hardbody has ZERO room for the wide intake manifold.

And yes this swap has been done...on more than one occasion in fact. Too bad the owners didn't take any decent images!

Thanks. I'm trying to learn all this, as best I can. So a 300 zx motor w/ the single turbo. will swap in and out pretty well... Do you know if the wiring is similar?

Another option is the 3.3 SC motor from 2001-2004 Xterras/Frontiers.

Dimensionally, it's the same block as the VG33. Not sure if the blower would clear the stock hood though.

I saw a hardbody with the supercharged frontier V6 swapped in for sale a while back, may be another option, no idea what kind of a nightmare the wiring would be.

Or how about this......

I'm fitting a turboed VH45 and Nissan Patrol auto, t-case and axles into a 93 Pathy. A fair bit of cutting a fabrication though.
