squeaky belts / wheel bearings / coasting

I purchased a 2003 Murano 8 months ago w/ 47,000 miles in excellent condition. When I test drove the vechicle (overnight) there was a loud squeak when I first cranked it in the morning if the a/c was on. I shared that with dealer and he said he would fix it. It seemed to be better for the first week or so and then it got worse again. I took it to my mechanic, and he advised me the whole assembly that allows you to tighten the belts was bent. He put new belts on and said he had “tightened” it the best he could, but the assembly also needed to be replaced. I am assuming it was bent when the dealer’s mechanic attempted to tighten it earlier. THE NOISE IS WORSE THAN BEFORE! So I’m having my mechanic put a new one on next week.

I live in the Western Carolina mountains & when I go down a steep hill (when I’m going 30 to 40 miles an hour) and the car is NOT in overdrive, the engine revs up (to about 3000 rpms). I think the best way to sum it up is by saying “the car does not coast well.”

AND…. I kept hearing a noise in the front wheel, “sorta like when the brakes need to be replaced,” but mechanic said it was not the brakes but rather the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. The car has 59,000 miles on it now.

DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS????

I purchased an extended warranty, so I hope it will pay for some if not all these problems.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Bettie

I work at a dealership and I have seen quite a few belt tensioners break on the 3.5's. Most likey is/was your problem. good luck
