Does installing an after market air intake, like the Weapon R - SECRET WEAPON AIR INTAKE SYSTEM, void an warrenty with a 6 month old 2007 Sentra? I'm interested in installing a nice air intake. The item number in question is 304-134-101 from http://www.Weapon-R.com (Note: It should fit my 2.0S)

it will only void the warranty if the intake caused whatever it is to break. if they can't prove that, then no it doesn't

Some dealers will try to get out of honoring the warranty, but so long as the intake and/or its install did not damage the parts, the warranty stands.

For example, if you had an O2 sensor crap out after the install and they tried to get out of fixing it under warranty, they'd be in the wrong.

Conversely, if your MAF crapped out after the install then they may be able to get out of it since it's probably either your fault or a bad intake design.

Have there been any cases when that has happened? Has anyone installed this type of intake before, and if so, do you feel any difference in the responce of your vehical. How much HP gains will you gain from changing such a part. Again, thanks all for your input. It is helpfull for me to understand from drivers that have experience.

I believe Weapon R has dyno PDFs on their website.

Regardless, you'll get a few hp at the wheels and a noticeable increase in throttle response.

Plenty of dealers have tried to void warranties based on intake modifications, but aside from a blown MAF, I've never seen anyone be unable to find a dealer who will do work under warranty like they should just for an intake. You may have to try more than one dealer, but most are fairly flexible.

If you're really that worried about it, you can always contact the dealer before you install it and ask them.

You can also just keep the stock intake and swap it back in when you need to go to the dealer. Once you've done it once it'll take you less than15min to do again.

i have been using that kind of intake in my 07 sentra and have not had any problems with it. i did notice a little gain in horespower but more of a gain in mpg's when i dont floor it every where. it also adds a nice sound.

I'm on the fence too about getting the Weapon R especially since I have CVT. I'm not sure as to how the intake would sound like since CVT's sound really flat all the time.

But for the time being, I'll probably pick up a K&N drop in filter since I really don't have the cash for a Weapon-R.

It'll sound just the same as on any other car. It will just stick on an RPM and sound mean on that RPM.

You guys all know the Stillen cold air fits with a CVT, right? You could also look into Fujita, although I'm not a huge fan of their products.

I saw those, but wouldn't those be more of a PITA to install and cost $100 more than the SRI?

A CAI isn't difficult to install whatsoever. Harder than an SRI, sure, but far from difficult.

You want me to file for bankruptcy don't you? LOL... But seriously, I'm not trying to mod up to be the fastest guy on the block. I want to keep things simple and moderate for everyday driving to and from work. I don't have much modding experience so I'll save that for when I can multiple cars.

I mean, if you can convince me otherwise, be my guest, you guys are definitely more knowledgeable about this stuff than I am.

Battery and tray come out. The computer gets moved over, the whole air box comes out. It took a while, but it isn't hard.

Haha, intakes are pretty cheap mods, all things considered.

It isn't about being the fastest guy on the block. It's a Sentra, after all, but it's definitely fun. Do what you want, I'm not here to promote one way or the other, I just want to make sure people have the right facts.
