It's not to bad except that it's been in the shop for way tooooo many things! Down time cost me money and I had way toooo many service calls.

My car is just over 1 year old. It has 78000 kms.

Had the following done

1. Whistling sound from the front side windows fixed.

2, A/C condensor noisy, replaced and getting noisy again

3. Air bag replaced: plastic part was warping

4. sensor went

5. 2 recalls

6. I am loosing Antifreez........... dealer telling me not a problem....BS

7. had the shifter replaced: shift indicator was reading wrong

8. Clunking noise Right side.... nothing wrong........

9. March 13 TODAY. Smell coming from car, rubber smell...... nothing wrong, must be the catilick convertor burning salt.(man... this was funny) I am waiting for it to explode before I bring it back in.

10. had to change the seat, the recline was not working good

11. Molding around the hood of the car

12> April 25, 08 Seat needs to be replaced, whole in the seat!

13> April 30, Metal spring broke in the seat and made a hole in the fabric. Not shure if they will replace it under waranty. Left cheek of my butt! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/image ... s/nono.gif" BORDER="0">

14> May 6, 08....Lost power to the gas pedal again....... Felt like pushing wind out of my ...........

15> May 16: Dead batery, not under waranty cause it's over 60 000 kms

16: Jan 13,09. Vent for gas tank replaced under waranty (126000 kms)

17: March 09: Serpentine belt (cracks in it and squeaks in the AM)

18: April 09. Changed my rotors and pads (140 kms)

19: Switch for the low windshield fluid light stayed on (replaces under waranty)

20: April 09 (140 000 kms) both lower control arms needed to be changed. Good thing I bought extended warranty. The nissan dealer missed this and Canadian tire picked it up while I had it in to put new tire on.

21: Changed both strut mounts (did not fix the klunk)That's about it............

Next time (very soon) HONDA!

Oh well......... just wanted to take the time to ***** a bit..

I went from Honda to Versa so it's only fair that we ship someone the other way. Too bad about for your V. Mine's been trouble free for 14,000km. No recalls either.

Funny -- they are trying . . . and it's too bad.

As a die-hard Habs fan I absolutely love that the Leafs are winning and taking themselves out of contention for a lottery pick. otoh . . . why???

Bad luck!

Sounds like you got every defect reported... all in one car!

Seems like the bulk of complaints, as far as reliability, is coming from Canadian versa's.......hrrrrm

I guess I'm an anomaly . . . lucky . . .or a disaster in waiting.

5000km (3000 mi) in: lousy gas mileage but other than that no problems.

Well, I went into a dealership to have them move the block heater cord, and the cold weather froze the little doohickey (I love the fact that I am so parts-savvy) weatherstripping joiner on the front window so I'm having the weatherstrip replaced (under warranty).

If those are going to be the extent of problems I'll be smiling.

Oh yeah, last night, I think I figured out what the smell was. I think it's the CVT transmission. It really smells when I am coming off the hwy.... and it smells more like burning fiber glass. Like I said, I will wait until it goes BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM before I bring it in.

The joke at the dealer ship is that I am the one figuring out what all the problems are......... nice eh.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great car but man........ down time is loosing $ for me...........

Good luck with the Honda purchase. I just traded my 2007 Honda Fit Sport in for a 2008 Nissan Versa SL. To be fair I've owned two Hondas. My 2001 Honda Civic was a true gem of a car! I never had an issue with that car. I traded it for the Honda Fit because it was getting high in miles and needing a lot of maintenance work (about $1,500 worth of work). The Honda Fit was nothing short of a nightmare. You name a issue and I had it with that car. I have a post on http://www.fitfreak.net under the same user name (daggonit) if you want to read. The Honda Fit is a really cheaply made vehicle...definitely not worthy of the Honda name. If you do decide to buy Honda then I highly recommend upgrading to the Civic.

daggonit- I agree. I think the Versa SL's primary competitors are vehicles like the Civic or Corolla in sedans and the Mazda 3 or Scion Xd in hatchbacks. It's possible to get into those cars with some amenities for about the same price (give or take a few hundred $$$) as a loaded Versa SL.

You're just not having luck with this car.

Or your students are really REALLY hard on it.

I actually take care of the car. I was hoping to get 300 kms before I sell it but at this rate I am scared. I must admit, it has been a while since i've been to the dealer...... but still the same. I had a civic and it did not give me any problems and I had it for about 90 000 kms. I had to change the brakes once and that was about it.......

I am hoping the bugs are worked out. It now has 87 000 kms but now I am concerned of the cold start up sounds I get: the valves take a while to quiet when first started. I change my oil religiously between 5 k and 6 k.

Weird eh!

Should not have a dead battery that soon. Something was draining it and it still should have charged back up. Unless the colder weather possibly killed it sooner.

NEVER HAD AN ISSUE!

Honestly guys, I have no idea why the issues on the driving instructor's Versa were so many, but I can honestly say that after 56,000 MILES, I have never had to do anything but an oil change or gas fill-up...

I guess the manual transmission was built a bit better...

Canadian Versa SL here,

8300km on the clock. One tow truck ride. Dead fuel pump and pressure regulator. WTF LOL

Driving Instructor...one question. How come your dead battery wasn't on warranty even if you have the bumper-to-bumper warranty???

My Versa is just a few months old, had a few problems... I'm pretty scared of what my car is reserving me in the next few months/years. I bought a Nissan just to make sure I had a reliable car.

Ohh well. Good luck with your car my friend!!!

Howdy,

The battery was only covered up to 60 000kms. I was way over that.

I can say that I worked out the troubles but tonight, my CHECK ENGINE light came on. Again, vent problems.............. tried to fill my tank... did not happen. I could only put about 3 bucks and it came gushing out. I did put in a total of 20 but that last me about 3/4 of a day. A good thing I have a Toyata truck to teach out of.
