Doesn't look too bad! Good luck with them.... should be a nice option for S14 owners.

Price will be a huge factor in this. Curious to see what that looks like.

If I recall correctly he said if he got 20-30 people interested it should be about $230 unpainted. Chops also teased me with the idea of if enough people were interested they would look at doing a run in abs plastic to match the stock interior. any chance we could get this thread moved to the 240 general section so we can get some more interest? i really want to get one in the factory look.

are you excited or shocked? keep in mind that's the price if he only gets a few people and a small production run. if there is more interest the cheaper the price

Yeah, $230 isn't bad at all, even though it will seem expensive to most. Once the demand is high, then the price can come down. Figure my labor rate is $45/hr..... which is cheap for my profession. It would take me several hours to make that piece perfect. So as long as his piece has no imperfections, no slight waves and no sand marks, then it is worth it in my mind. However, a lot of people on here don't want to pay for perfection nor would appreciate it. I actually ask my customers to what degree of perfection they want. Lets say 85% of perfection takes 2 hours..... then 100% may take 10 hours. Your average customer can't tell the difference between 85% and 100%. Then you have anal freaks like me! Must be 110%

I'm comparing that price to the price of pretty much every other make/model that has custom console pods made for them like evos, stis, rx7s, skylines, Z32s, etc etc... ive never seen any over $120 unless it was carbon. So you'd be correct in saying $230 has me shocked.

I'm the exact same way... To keep selling price down I think I'm going to do this on my own without MVP. I have already spoken to the body shop who made mine and he stated he could make them for me 1 at a time if need be so no min buy in. Selling price would be $215 shipped painted any color you want or $195 shipped ready to paint. You would need to ship me your factory piece and turn around time would be 1.5-2.weeks as each one would be hand made to order. Also for you 60mm guys he said he could hook you up as well, same price you will just need to send 1 gauge so they can get the proper sizing(only applies to 1st order for 60mm). Thoughts? Regards, Robert

I know that, this just seems really expensive for this particular piece. Are they just fiberglassing it?

They take your complete factory piece, modify the center section for the pods, then get it ready to paint. It snaps in just like factory as it still is the factory unit. Robert

I realize that, but are they just fiberglassing the center vents or are they remolding with plastic? I'm assuming it's just fiberglass.

They are actually using a Plastic filler. If you are familiar with bodywork they are some cases where a tear in plastic bumpers can be repaired by plastic welding. Well the filler used in that process is what he uses to mold the pods then finishes it with glazing putty for a smooth finish. I assumed he was using fiberglass in the beginning but he is using this stuff instead.Regards, Robert

I like it but how easy was it to move the climate control to underneath your reciever? im trying to imagine how much slack was there last time i pulled that off to paint it before.

It's really straight forward, you just need to snake your harness around the bar to go underneath it instead of over it. | Quote, originally posted by elcruzmissle » | | I like it but how easy was it to move the climate control to underneath your reciever? im trying to imagine how much slack was there last time i pulled that off to paint it before. |

Nope no cruise on my car ..I plan on trying to get it hooked up though but the SR recently spun a bearing so that will be put on the back burner.
