It's hard to get too excited about a car review when there's a big banner ad for that very car right above the article.rn79870 wrote:I've read that American cars have made leaps in quality but the public still refuses to believe they are equal in quality to an Asian cars. I was interested in the Holden Ute that they will be importing as the G8 ST. They will be releasing it but only with a 6 +/- liter V8.
.
Lamborghini owners. They don't come with spares and I believe it was the CEO that said "Lamborghini owners don't change tires" all condecending like.rn79870 wrote: like no spare tires standard on their cars, they are optional. Who the crap wants a flat without a spare?
That's because every nail, screwdriver, sharp object, etc. on the road is waiting patiently to flatten my tires. (I'm not kidding)Looneybomber wrote:I like it. I'd rock it as a family car.

Just because someone may like a big V8 car does NOT mean said person is a redneck. I LOVE big cars, and I like FAST big cars, which typically means V8. And I'm not exactly what one would describe as a redneck.Metaru_Gia wrote:Another big useless V8 car? Do the big 3 think we are all a bunch of piguh truh driving rednecks? I'm not saying this car isn't nice but at the end of the day who's really going to buy this thing. To be driving a big gas guzzling car I rather just buy a Tahoe(atleast it has more space). Gas peaked $3.59 for regular here in south Florida since that oil refinery caught fire. I think this car will catch on at the beginning but after a year or 2 will just fade away.

Exactly. new M3 sedan. Old M5's. Audi S4, Audi A8, 7 series. and assorted other european cars are v8 powered sedans.nchopp wrote:

It will also be offered with a V6.Metaru_Gia wrote:Another big useless V8 car? Do the big 3 think we are all a bunch of piguh truh driving rednecks? Most newer BMW M series cars as well. Not even room for an optional one.Looneybomber wrote:I like it. I'd rock it as a family car.

Corvettes come with runflats only. Might I add they actually do a good job of holding up too(though they ride and handle like crap).Veriest1 wrote:

High powered brand new performance cars are usually for people who can afford to have some fun. Not everyone is poor, and gas isn't a top concern for all drivers.Metaru_Gia wrote:Another big useless V8 car? Do the big 3 think we are all a bunch of piguh truh driving rednecks?

Give it a 6MT and it's the best vehicle sold in America.
All SR20's and KA's get 60mpg on the fwy and 30mpg in the city didn't you know?Jookmasta wrote:dang i'm late to the thread.
first off, it will be offered in manual with a 6 speed come sometime in 2009. secondly to mr. bubba, i'd love to know how you thought the GTO was a disappointment. if you are talking about it's piss poor sales, I totally agree but as a car/vehicle, it's definitely a dream car to most car enthusiasts.
as for the spare tire comment, i'm not sure where it came from but i'm pretty sure the G8 will be offered with a spare tire. it won't be sporting run flats so that would be weird if it didn't come with one.
and last but not least, the fellow south floridian. you obviously have never driven an LS2 powered car so if you have, you would know that they get ALOT more mileage than any 240 on this board especially with highway driving. when i am cruising at 50 mph, my rpms are at about 1100-1200 rpms.............need i go on?
anyways, don't let the big v-8 scare you if your into fuel economy. these things are NOT made to get you a prius level of gas economy so if that's what you love, go get a TDI powered VW or some sort of hybrid vehicle. as jesda put, gas is not a main concern for MANY people when it comes to buying a car.
Metaru_Gia wrote:I never called anyone here a redneck(please reread)I'm just saying that with all the eco friendly propaganda you see and hear on TV and radio and GM stuffing the Volt down our throats in magazines, I ask myself why now? Does the U.S. need another "big car"? Or is GM just trying to take a bite of what Chrysler did 3 years ago? It's non-innovative decisions like these that have put GM where they are now. We are talking about this captive import because of good marketing, not because its something new. If I was interested in a large car I'd wait for the Hyundai.
