Mine only says DS until I select a gear, but it does downshift 1 gear when I pull it into DS.SVTCornsnake wrote:Mine says 1M......Not DS...
Rich... I've had the 10 wire GroundingGear on mine for a couple of years. It might have been a simple 'placebo' effect, but I believe that it made a bit of a difference in the shifts. I can tell you that, when my car is cold, the transmission REALLY shifts harder. I can really feel the shifts in the seat of my pants, almost like when I had a B&M kit in my 67 Camaro's turbo 350. (That's a CHEVY, in case you were wondering! lol) Once the fluid heats up, it is a bit softer.SVTCOBRA wrote:Mine says 1M......Not DS...
Will, I agree! It would be more natural for me if up-shifting were down and down-shifting were up.
FYI, from what I read, the grounding kit is supposed to help the AUTO transmission shift more crisp with less delay. Another item on my mod list!!
I gotta say that it sounds like it might be you bro. I'm not sure what part of "push it forward to up-shift and pull it back to down-shift" is the most confusing, but give it a try. It is really fun!jae_k wrote:god dammit i wish i got manual this sounds more confusing!!!! or is it just me? Thanks for your help bro
I too lust for the 6mt coupe...SVTCOBRA wrote:Mine says 1M......Not DS...

funny guy!!!! Just because I like my cobra doesn't mean I dislike all other domestics!!! I eagerly await the new Camaro and Challenger!! Don't care for Chrysler, but when they put out the new Hemi, I HAD to go give it a look-see. Test drove a Viper which was a BEAST. And a Z06BigWill wrote:

Yeah, would like to hear how it goes. If daughter gets a nice scholarship to ASU, I'll celebrate with a mod!! She was offered a 15K per year at SCAD, but that still leaves 25K per year!!BrandAidDesignG35 wrote:I too lust for the 6mt coupe...
I got the NRG kit online, it looks really sweet, I'm installing this weekend I'll let you know how it turns out... I've heard all good things tho,
I only use the damn manual mode when I'm not with my girlfriend and my pup
but it's nice to be able to pick your gear...
NOW you're talking!!SVTCOBRA wrote:Yeah, I know what Camaro is! How about an alum. block 427 Copo??
Here's some light reading for you. This is only one option. There are a few companies that offer grounding wire systems... and a good deal of discussion on this forum about them if you do a little digging.jae_k wrote:how much is the grounding wire kit going for?
A grounding kit will increase the throttle response in an AUTO. Search around for threads discussing it....definitely a good mod!jae_k wrote:how about the stillen grounding kit? Seems popular
Yes sir. There is not a direct link from which to order. You simply send the owner, Gordon, a request via e-mail. He is a great guy, and extremely helpful. I see that he is even offering a discount on the system in return for feedback.jae_k wrote:now is this the website you ordered it on?
Stillen is certainly another option, as I said, there are a few different dealers that sell the kits. I simply liked the knowledge, feedback, quality of materials and construction of the GroundingGear... and, at least at the time I ordered, the price was less than anyone around. There's plenty of info here, and on other sites, (like Stillen), to make the decision. Let the research begin!!jae_k wrote:how about the stillen grounding kit? Seems popular
Trust me, you'll be happy with the GroundingGear kit, I have it I like it. Everyone else that has it likes it. They've done a lot of research into optimal grounding points and just having the thicker cables helps, too.jae_k wrote:I must say grounding gear is quite convincing but I feel safer going with stillen I feel I would be getting the best. Not too concerned with the price bc I want nothing but he BEST for my baby. Also something I found interesting is that the colors do matter, sounds retarded but that's what some say. Im going look around a bit more but for now the decision is stillen.
If you look in your engine compartment, you'll see small black wires bolted to the body on both sides, the front and back of the engine. Those are grounding points for the electronics. The grounding kit upgrades this whole grounding system by adding thicker, higher quality cables, and with a little research, have found even better points in which to ground the system. If you click the link for GroundingGear above, they give a good explanation. Just click in the FAQ link on the left and it gives the whole rundown.nismodan69 wrote:ok i am completely lost with this grounding gear kit. what exactly is it? and how does it improve performance?
Ok JAE..You need to listen to people on this board. Tried, and tested in the mod departments. You may be thinking that Stillen is a bigger name and so you should head in that direction. GroundingGear wires are the way to go.jae_k wrote:I must say grounding gear is quite convincing but I feel safer going with stillen I feel I would be getting the best. That's not normal. When you put into manual mode, it should stay in the gear that you are in, unless you are in 5th in which it shifts down to 4th automatically. If you are at a standstill, it should remain in 1st when switching back and forth.tollboothwilley wrote:
When I put mine into manual...it always goes into 4th gear first...so i have to down shift down to first gear or else it will act as auto.
