I get 30-32 MPG with about 90% freeway driving and I normally drive 70-75 MPH depending on traffic (70 is the Speed limit most of the way )

I've been getting:Best: 30mpg when driving strictly on the highway with cruise control at about 70-75mph Average: 25-27mpg with mixed driving: highway with traffic and city driving Worst: 21mpg with strict city driving I used to really try keeping the RPMs < 3K but after a while I felt like I was driving like a granny. Just recently, I resumed driving like a NYC ******* (only way to get where you're going in 5 boroughs of NYC) and that's probably why I got 21mpg... I think I may tone it down a bit b/c my last car (Mazda 929) had some balls to it and was a lot bigger than the Versa. Ironically, I average about 18mpg with that 6 cylinder. However, I do enjoy the Versa

My wife was averaging 27.7 MPG on her 100% city commute. She changed jobs a few weeks ago, and now she has a 90% highway commute. Gas mileage dropped as low as 24 MPG for us, but that was in even colder weather with extended warm-ups every morning.Highest we've seen yet is about 31 MPG with mostly highway driving. I'm hoping that as the weather warms up her new commute will bring the average up just a bit - but so far we're quite happy with the efficiency.

I drive into New york City most days, stop and go Highway traffic, LOL! I get around 30 - 32 6spd manual (i try not go much over 3K) I shift at 3K for each gear.I drive my Girlfriends Pius a lot and that car helps you think about how to get better mileage. Things like not keeping your foot on the gas until a stop, coast to it. DONT shift like a Nascar guy, keep it slow and dont Mat it right away. I figure I got a High mileage car, i would like to get HIGH mileage! I get my kicks in my other modes of transport

Lifetime fuel economy is listed in my sig...It has been trending downward, last 4 tanks have all been in the 28's or 27's. It HAD been averaging 30's and 31's before the winter fuel switch. Worst tank was doing a lot of city driving, plus spending a lot of time in stop-and-go traffic during heavy rains and flooding. Best tank was cruising 70 mph east-to-west from eastern WA back home.

No. This downward trend started well before my new rims, my mileage has been declining at a steady rate, and the rate has not increased with the addition of my new rims. Actually, 11 of my last 15 tanks have been at 30 or below and dropping. Only two of those 4 tanks were regressions in the pattern. the other 2 were attributed to a trip I took, so they were bound to be higher anyway.

I kept my Sedan between 50 and 55 (had to jump up to 65 a few times) and drove it 98 miles (hwy). I pulled 42+ MPGs! However, it was pure torture to go that slow! The last 6 fill-ups (city/hwy) have my MPG bouncing between 29 and 34. I am driving a S Sedan with 4 speed auto.

I have an 08 Onyx Blue SL, CVT, ABS that I got in late November 07. First tank I got I was around 29.1MPG. I have about 4300 miles on him now and I average around 28-29. My 16 mile commute is mostly city driving, stop and go, red lights...there is a 1/2 mile stretch where I can go 60MPH but thats it. I took a trip to PA one day and got 31MPG...and that was keeping ihim below 70MPH. Its interesting that highway mileage does not deviate that much from city mileage...maybe by 2 MPG. My 2006 corolla used to get 30/city and 37/hwy!Winter gas in Central NJ never really affected my mileage in my previous cars (Toyota corollas) so I am not really optimistic the mileage will go up that much in the summer

Mine averages about 34 in the summer and 31 in the winter. I included a graph through 50,000 miles in this thread:http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=311163 I drive about half highway miles at 70-75, and much of the rest at 50-60. I'm a big believer in watching way ahead and letting up on the gas when I can, instead of having to hit the breaks hard for a stoplight I could have anticipated, for example.

Very poor for a car this size and a light foot on the pedal.Total mileage is on my profile over on the left but the last tank was only 21.9 mpg with 100% city driving. BTW, the 26.9 mpg overall is with 62% city, 38% highway mileage.

Well I'm am really thrilled the past few days as we all know gas prices took off. On Feb 4th I bought my Versa filled it up at 100 miles then filled it up for the 1st time today 415 miles 10.95 gallons 37.89 mpg on my 1st tank!Half way through the I received my Scan Gauge ll .... I believe with this I will be easily able to get over 40 mpg around town (Pensacola FL) I just love the car and learning how to truly drive for economy without having people behind me honk their horns or flip me the bird. In other words a great car for $11,700 before tag, title and taxes 6 speed manual and floor mats that's it. CHEAPO SPECIAL!

I'm averaging (as you can see) 21.8 (US). Am I happy? NO! And that's with a CVT; in town, under 2K RPM.Believe me . . . if there were an answer I'd take it (and so would the rest of us!).

Part of the pattern among many of us with Versas is that the CVT is a gas guzzler in city driving. A few people here have reported good mileage around town with a CVT, but every time I've asked the specific questions regarding the most efficient accelleration rates (rpms, speeds, etc.) they've refused to respond. That leads me to believe that they really don't know or don't trust what they are reporting. It could very well be that they simply spend more time at moderate or sustained speeds than they believe. I'm still hoping to be able to use part of my income tax return to buy a Scanguage. Maybe when it's hooked up to my CVT I can get some definitive answers on making our cars more efficient. If I buy one, I'll share the results with everyone on this forum.

Appreciate it. Wanted a 6 spd but wife encouraged me to buy the CVT so our adult kids could all drive it (I could have taught them to drive a stick but . . . ). A month and a half later: they've moved out [big CHEER!] . . . I don't have a 6 spd [big frown]; gas mileage sucks and is nowhere near the promised. Life goes on.

I mostly drive on the highway during off hours, so without traffic I do very well... Last four tanks 36mpg! I do want to say I drive to save gas. I never excede 3k rpms and try to run around 2k when I can. I take my time when shifting. I anticipate stops and always start out slowly.I am sure I am a real pain to be behind - LOL!

My driving has been all city so far, and I'd guesstimate that it was somewhere around 20. A new Bypass to Highway 4 has opened down the street from me, so I get to cruise along to work at 75+. It cuts so many stops and lights, like you wouldn't believe! I'm hoping this helps. Well, that and my car is a young 1200 miles..

Hi all versa owners, new here. i have a 07 6 speed manual versa S, with abs. during the summer and fall i have been getting around 25-27 mpg, and now its only about 20 mpg. it has been the winter and so far we have had a pretty harsh winter here. lots of ice and snow? but i was wondering if you all had any tips to be more fuel efficient? i have been baffled. i made sure my tires were properly inflated. i have Conti Procontact Tires. anything would help, driving tips, at what rpm you switch gears, also information on how the weather affects mpg would also be helpful. thanks

When I first started driving and did jack-rabbit starts and drove like a bat out of hell I got as low as 25mpg. But now that I've stopped doing that I can get at least 30mpg on my 66mile drive to school. But that's over GA's incredibly hill terrain. If I lived somewhere flat I could probably get much higher than that. I normally drive @ around 2 or 2.5 rpm.Tips: Keep it at 2k RPM as much as possible while accelerating. DON'T do jack rabbit starts off the light. Try not to tail-gate people. The more you do that, the more you need to hit your breaks, and the more you'll use getting back up to speed. Don't speed to much. Besides, there is no reason to speed anyway. The only way you can get where you're going any significant amount of time faster is if you do twice the speed limit.

We've gotten everywhere from 35mpg (all highway/freeway), 33mpg mixed, down to 20mpg (husband warming up car for 15 minutes before driving 3 minles to work every morning..I put a stop to that).Typical mileage seems to be around 27-33 if we're driving normally and not doing stupid **** like gunning it around corners and warming it up all morning. I am happy with the mileage and feel like I got what I expected. It gets better mileage than my G20 did and feels like it's got more power while doing it.

Winter driving here in Pittsburgh is horrible. I get about 23 miles per gallon with 90% being city driving. This is a far cry from the 28 or so I got during the summer. As far as highway miles I get 30-32 miles per gallon.

I have a CVT 08 and can't keep it at 2k for anything basically. Unless I'm doing like 20 mph. I hit 30 mpg once with cruise control on for 200 miles, but in general even with mostly highway driving I barely average 25 mpg.

MPG = Miles per gallon. Take the number of miles on your trip odometer, divide it by the number of gallons you put into it. 300 miles / 10 gallons = 30 MPG. Or, if you want to get more accurate/picky... 304.2 miles / 9.98 gallons = 30.48 mpg I use a spreadsheet to track my fuel economy. It gives both individual tank figures and lifetime fuel economy. As for type of gas... just use 87 octane. Higher octane fuels will give you no added benefit, and MAY actually DECREASE your fuel efficiency. As for brand, some people will say it matters, some will say it doesn't. If you use "discount" fuels, you'll want to periodically run a can of fuel injector cleaner through your system to keep it as clean as possible.
