  Oxyacetylene for bodywork?

So after I buy my 240, I've been debating buying a welder. I'm probably going to have to weld some hole in the hatch, and plus I'm in the process of fixing up a lot of rust on an '89 F150 I own and need to weld in a few patches.

I can get a used O/A kit and tanks for a lot cheaper than I can get a MIG, and I like the quality of work I do better on O/A than MIG, and plus, the torch will be helpful for bending stuff and things like that.

My question is, I always see everyone using MIG on all autobody work, how effective is O/A welding for it?

Yeah it's not body work quality unless you have many years of experience with that type of work. Save up some cash and buy a decent MIG, they have adjustable temperature and feed rate for a much much nicer and more consistent results.

lol probably not but anyways o/a welding is a pain in the @ss, you'll overheat the metal really quick and plus if you burn through then you have that much work to do to it, i find the welding with the wire feed(forgot what its called) works pretty well

TIG welding

I have had nothing but bad experiences with TIG and O/A F that and go MIG it's much more user friendly.

It all just takes practice.

I used to work with a guy who welded with jumper cables and a wire.
