1992 Sentra SE-R transmission 5spd pops out of 5th gear

My transmission has been giving me trouble for quite a while with 5th gear and now it will not stay in gear.

Is there an easy fix for this transmission? Is it something I can do myself? I called a few transmission places and they never heard of the transmission and will not work on it because it is so rare.

Please help if you can.

It was bound to happen sooner or later with the 91-93 se-r. The fix will cost as much to buy a good used transmission. Preferably one from a 95-97 200sx se-r so that you won't have that problem again.

Will a transmission out of a 95 - 97 200sx se-r really work? Will it bolt up the same or will I have to do some modifying?

it bolts up directly just as the 92-96 g20t transmission. you can also use the b15 and 99-02 g20t transmission, but those require you to switch over from hydraulic to cable. your best bet to keep the same gear ratios is the 200 sx se-r, the drive train is the same. the only modification is you have to switch the speed o sensor out to your mechanical one, which is simple when both transmission are right in front of you.

thanks again for your help. I have been looking for a transmission, but have not found anything as of yet. I am trying to stick to the 95 -97 200 because I don't want to go through this again.

Hey guys I wanted to ask this here sorry for the interjection.

I'm converting a GA16de to manual and wanted to know if the speed sensor on my 92 auto would be able to fit in the xx manual trans? Or do auto's have some different sort of sensor?

I don't know if they manual sensor and auto are the same. Easy way to find out is compare them.

No the GA doesn't have the 5th gear issue.

yes like said get you a B14 ser or B15 SE or P11 transmission. B15 and P11 trannys are a hell of alot stronger then B13 and B14 trannys. you can buy the 5th gear pop kit if you do not want ot cannot find another transmission
