I have installed all the mods for my 2007 G-35 Cope 6MT---Stillen TD Catback exhaust, JWT Pop Charger with Z-tube, Mrev2 and 5/16" Plenum Spacer. I also decided, while still apprehensive about the decision, to change my oil from blend to Mobli 1 Synthetic. I had made very clear on earlier topics that I would not use synthetic oil in my new engine. Well, the service manager and the mechanic together gave me assurances that Mobil 1 was the very best and that all that stuff about break in periods and so, was totally irrelevant for modern day engines.

All in all, installation of all the parts plus changing my oil with synthetic oil (they used thier own cans of Mobil 1, which I saw), came to about $400. It took about 5 hours to install everything.

On top of that I was adviced to come in before 30,000 miles to replace all the fluids in the car. In fact, the dealership I went to, use synthetic oil, if requested, for their transmission and differentials. I was quite surprised at that.

I have driven the car about 50 miles in the last 2 hours since I left the dealership. I must say that the top end horsepower and torque is amazing. The car is now alive, and i can make many stangs out there look really, really bad in terms of performance. In addition, the sound that the car makes when I step on the gas, is scary loud. Acceleration is now scary fast. My big dilemma now is how to drive it normally. I find stumping on the gas so satisfying and exhiliarating. Please help me to stop enjoying this car. I love it!! Now, i fell like King of the Road. I really don't see why I need a SC with these mods. I think it is fast enough so far. My mind may change in a few months from now. I have become a performance junkie. Please help!!

In the next two months I will be replacing my tires with 245/35/19 (front) and 275/35/19 (rear) with 5mm spacers for the rear tires. I will aslo go ahead at that time to relace the transmission fluid and differential fluid, since the car will be jacked up, anyway. I found the tire option using spacers more economical than buying new rims for the car. The OEM wheels actually look nice.

As I write, some demon inside my head is asking me to go back out there and drive this car. Now, I have to relearn drivinging like everyone else. I love the car, the sound and the performance. I love the sound in third gear when at 5,000 RPM or more.

What do you think?

I think it might be easier to trick the G's computer into functioning normally with a stroker kit then with FI.....

On the Hemi's we used these piggy backs and it worked well!

I wish I had the time to do the installation myself. There is something called division of labor, which is a very american ideal. Sometimes, we have to pay others to get what we want, while we spend an equivalent amount if time pursuing the making of more money. We all cannot sit under the hood for hours. But I do appreciate those who do.

Congrats!! Awesome mod list... yes, you will find it fast enough...for now But trust me, you now have the mod bug and will want more...

Stomp on her and shift at 7000RPM's for the full effect. As Joe says... these cars shine at higher RPM's

I assume a larger part of the reason you had Infiniti install it was because you wouldn't have any warranty issues should a problem arise.. correct?

Now to free up the hp at lower RPM's ... you may want to check out Chad's post on the pulley set... I myself am still debating on this.

I have heard (in the past) that using underdrive pullies can cause problems with the charging system and the A/C maybe even power steering systems. I don't know of any substantive proof either way on this. Has anyone tested these accessories after the pullies were installed? If they work, I would guess that this might improve MPG too.

ZZOKA and G_Whizz:

Thanks. Yes, i have caught the mod bug, and if I don't get some anti-mod medecine soon, I fear I will be incapaciated with moding out my car pretty soon. For now, because of cops in my area, i have kept the RPm down to about 6,000 RPM. Even then, the car has become lightning fast and scary. Most of all, the very loud noise from the immedate acceleration with the Stillen Exhaust, seems to make other drivers scared or totally imnpressed. So, some just folow me. But I have to slow down because of tickets. My car feels like a different car entirely. Feels lighter and more agile. I am unsure of the OEM pipes are heavier than the Stillen Pipes. My car does feel lighter in some ways. The steering wheel seems lighter as well. It seems many of the OEM parts actually add weight to the G-35. I am not sure about this. Becasue of this lightness in weight, I am able to turn corners a lot faster now. Any good explanation for this supposed lightness in weight?

Yes, the Stillen exhaust is lighter than the OEM, plus you removed the airbox for a lighter intake...not much, but it helps. Most of us do these one at a time so the difference comes in small waves...can't imagine all at once! But like everything else, you'll want more. Thats the mod bug...

Any pics?

Joe603:

You are right! In fact, becasue of the lightness of the car, my psychology of the car has suddenly changed. The car now feels as light as a Honda Accord, but more agile. I really feel taking away unnecessary weight from the G-35 can make it go faster. It may probably be the cheapest way to increase horspower. This si why I am considering the non-underdrive crank pulleys as the next engine mod. Next month, I am doing new wheeels and perhaps, wheel spacers, and switching the transmission and differential oils to synthetic oils.

Just so you're clear...removing weight does NOT increase horsepower. Horsepower is a measure of work. Removing weight will give you a better power-to-weight ratio, thus making the car quicker.

Not picking on ya, just don't want you to get flamed in other forums.

I completely agree as I work over 54 hours per week (no days off), but I sure as hell wouldn't have paid someone to install an intake or any of the intake hardware you have. That would have taken you all of an hour to do... Wait, I'll be nice 1.5 hours. I only make around $18/hr so that means it would have cost me $27 vs. the $95/hr that the dealership charges which comes out to $130.

Do you make $95/hr?

I don't blame you on the exhaust though. Without a hydraulic lift, I don't see a fun way of installing that.

Remeber, the $400 includes botht he oil change with synthetic oil, and the ECU reset. They dealership used their own Mobil 1 Syntec 5w-30. All I did was bring the car, and bring my mods.

The oil and filter cost $41 if you did it yourself.

The ECU reset procedure is listed in the FAQ. If done right the first time, it takes all of 5 mins to do.

You are right! But I have so much confidence in my mechanic at the dealership, that I will allow him do it. He was the same guy who installed my revised VQ engine. So, the money i spent was for a future day when i might need a rebate in labor. You just never know. But you are right all the same.

Jacko3, you will learn to take other's opinions for what they are.......don't sweat it. I might have done some of the stuff myself, but I also think you got a good deal when considering that you are looking to the future and your relationship with your dealer.

I guess I'm not very interested in making friends with the dealer because I've seen the local ones change staff too often.

Don't care too much for our local infiniti dealer either...But, I've had a good relationship with the Nissan dealer since they opened.Discounts on parts & service....Great deals on cars. They let me take a new Nismo Z out for a extended test drive with the wife. They have been great to deal with.

If your infiniti dealer is like our, then I definitely understand!

Mobil one is great and you can get it at walmart or costco for less then 25 bucks. Does anyone know of something that can interface with A laptop for the g35? I have it for my F150 I can program it for max performance then when I take it in reset it to stock.

There is another good point why worth to get the servicer install your mods. They won't turn their back to you if you claim a warranty work related to the mods.
