My buddy and I went to the auto show in Detroit this afternoon. Overall it was pretty good, but there were a couple disappointments. First the disappointments, then we'll get to the good parts.

Most of the disappointments come from Ford. First of all, the only Mustangs on display were the new Bullitt and a regular GT. There was no GT500. There was no GT on display either. On top of that, since Aston Martin was sold off to some group in India, they didn't make it to the show, which to me was the ultimate personal low. I really wanted to see the DBS, the car from Casino Royale.

Now on the other hand, the 1 series from BMW was on display, the Audi R8, and the Hummer xR concept (looks like the warthog from Halo). The DUB exhibit was very cool this year. Also on display was the Fisker Karma, which for those who don't know, will be the first plug-in car put into production and it's a very nice car that will perform well. Also on display was the new ZR1 Corvette, the Jag XKR which I guess can be a substitute for the missing Aston Martin, the Lexus F, the Mazda race car that runs on E100 and of course our beloved GTR.

I know you guys will be asking for pics, I was going to post them but I forgot to bring the USB cord to work. I will get them up either later tonight or in the morning.

I guess I was trigger happy, its going to take awhile to get 156 pictures off the camera and thru Photoshop. I'll post a link to photobucket once they're done.

And the pictures are up. Take a look. I got a new camera for Christmas and this is the first time I've really been able to use it, it takes great pictures and the color is very balanced.

Here's the link.

The Riviera Concept is HOT.

Finally, a Buick I would drive. That hasn't happened since the GNX.

Yup, but actually just got back from Searchmont, Canada for the long weekend. This weather is nothing compared to that. We had about 4 feet of snow while we were there. I didn't see pavement at all in Canada.

Yeah, I've been to Searchmont before, not a fan. Stay in the state and head west in the UP to go boarding, you'll particularly like Marquette Mountain if you like the park.

Marquette is great, but a long drive, and it was a Michigan Snowboard Club trip, and we go to Searchmont because the younger kids can drink.

Bohemia is fantastic, but it takes twice as long to get there. Personally, I think the riding sucks at Searchmont, but we know a bunch of people there. Real riding is done out west, snowboarding in MI is just masturbatlon. Fun enough, but no substitute.

I was kind of disappointed. I didnt see a lot of cars that I was hoping would make it out. It seemed like it was better a few years back. I got to go last Thursday, before doors opened.

I loved all of Cadillac's cars and want a new CTS-V really bad now. Even the new G8 by Pontiac was really nice. Most of GMs new stuff was nice. Also loved the C30 by Volvo. All of Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles were horrible. Wasn't too impressed by the new M3, I sat in it and liked the 1 series better. Audis were really nice, loved the R8 TDI V12.

Wasn't impressed by the M3? I'm surprised -- the new M3 is supposed to be hotness.

I love the Bulllitt.... I'd love to have one. I think they are only going to make about 7000.

I'm sure the car will perform but it felt like I was sitting in a mid 90s 3 series, same cluster and etc. The Bullitt was pretty dam cool but it too far down on hp for the price. Also we had a sales guy trying to pre sell us one and didn't know what the hell he was talking about, claimed it could beat a new corvette and smoke the tires to 80mph. We told him a Cobalt SS would put up a good fight and most likely beat it and then he went on about Roush sold aftermarket parts they could add to the vehicle.

Another thing that I realized yesterday was that Porsche wasn't there. At least I didn't see them.

The "tumor" just kind of helps you stay in place in the seat. You find it on the seats of the Gs.

Porsche said that they don't sell enough cars in Detroit so they stopped showing there. They are going to focus more in California, Florida, and some other states.

Aston Martin is now owned by Prodrive, the people who run Subaru's WRC.

Well, Porsche will lose ALL of their sales here if they dont show at the NAIAS. Stupid decision. How much would it cost that company to bring some cars out? I KNOW they would get at least the amount of sales to break even. Is the NAIAS really hurting their bottom line?

I went on wednesday, it was a good time. I finally got to see the GTR in person, and I've been waiting a while for that. It looked good. That mazda race car with the 20b in it was awesome. proly the coolest thing there next to the gtr IMO. I was mad about porsche, but whatever ish happens. did you guys see the old school mitsu's they had out, I thought that was sweet
