that's a custom made turbo setup one of the guys is fabbing himself. there is a company in the process of making a production turbo kit right now as we speak. they hope to have it on the shelf ready to go by may of this year. i won't put the direct link to the other forum but here is the post they made:

We're looking for ONE person to sponsor in the coming months.. This person will recieve a free turbo kit.. including the following..

321L stainless turbo manifold321L stainless, TIG welded downpipeGarrett/Precision turbo (specs will be disclosed at a later date)Tial 38mm wastegate (recirculated)Greddy Type S blow off valve 42lb MSD injectorsWalbro fuel pumpApexi SAFC NEO or SAFC II (your choice)Aluminum intercooler piping kit with 3 ply silicone and T-bolt clampsFI-R Bar/Plate intercooler with mounting bracketsAll stainless braided oil lines, fuel lines and vacuum hoses/fitting includedAutometer boost gauge installed

The sponsoree must be willing to leave his/her vehicle with FI-R for 4-6 weeks, to test fitment of components, and for testing purposes, including testing on a private track (not the street!) plus, a few hours of dyno testing/tuning at various loads/conditions. The sponsoree will agree to pay for final installation and final tuning (approx. 1200.00). The sponsoree will also agree to affix a reasonably sized company logo/banner on the vehicle. Attendance at local car shows will not be required, but, would be encouraged. Advertisement/feedback on this, and other forums would also be encouraged.

FI-R will guarantee (in writing) to cover any damage to the powertrain, in the rare event that any should occur. I stand behind my work/research. I have 7 years of Nissan experience, and I have never lost a motor to R&D or testing. You guys know my work, and know my products speak for themselves..

Obviously, we're leading up to something bigger here.. The test vehicle will have 2 kits built from the same car. One kit will stay with the vehicle, and the other will go off to our fab guys for jigging and mass production. By May of this year, I will have 20 kits on the shelf, ready to ship. No waiting for parts to be made.. no BS.. Order your kit, and it ships the same day. If I see that the kits are moving at a decent pace, I will stock another 30-50 kits, depending on demand. The goal will be around 275-300whp on 93 octane. The price will be around 3500-4K, complete with everything listed above.. Again, shelf stock, ready to go. We learned a lot from our previous generation SE-R turbo kit, and we're ready to move on to the next generation.. I look forward to many more years of discovery/testing with this new platform.

Applicants should contact me via PM.. Please list your current mods, and plans for the vehicle.. If you have questions about the turbo kit, please post them here. We will be tackling this in late Feb/Early March.. Thanks..

Travis

eh, i'm not really trying to promote it, just thought i'd post the message when i saw someone start a thread about an 07 turbo kit. i think they probably found someone by now anyways. if i read anything new about it i'll definitely keep everyone updated.

Since I'm new to the world of car tuning and do not have 30K to burn, do companies do that sort of thing often?

actually this is pretty common and how most aftermarket companies develop and test fit their products. usually they will give you a free part for allowing them to use your car in the case of cheaper items such as intakes and exhausts and such. a turbo kit would be too expensive to just give away. unfortunately for me, most companies are out in california.
