I did my Nissan Versa myself. Before that I've donw my Honda Accord, Toyota Corolla and Tercel. Each car is a little different, but you need either a wiring diagram or a voltmeter or circuit tester to figure out which wire does what.
First, I recommend you get the type of wiring adapter that requires a seperate power source. Otherwise if the trailer lights draw too large of a load or has a short circuit, you'll blow hte fuse for you cars lights. You want you're cars curcuits isolated from the trailer. The only other alternative would be to individually fuse each of the 4 wires.
You'll need a tie-in point. The best location is usually at the wiring harness going to the reight or left rear turn signal. the wiring harness usually travel down one side of the car or the other. You can normally get all 4 circuits from the 1 harness. You'll need a stop, right turn, left turn , parking/running lights and a common. the trailer combines the running lights with the turn signals.
