I just got a 2008 M45 in black. So of course I'm worried about swirl marks. My husband said he read something about the M45 having some new paint that is somehow self healing, the swirls go away. I can't find this on the Infinity site. Is there any such thing and does the M45 have it? Does it work? Thanks.

It's a technology that Nissan is *working* on, but is not in line yet. Your new M is sprayed with a new "nano" clear system that is supposed to resist scratches. In my experience (I own a detail shop in Memphis), the Infinit paint is just as scratch sensitive as ever.

To avoid swirls you want to wash with the most delicate wash media/process that you can. I would use multiple sheepskin mitts(hand selected for softness), two buckets when washing (one for soap, one for rinsing), and blow the vehicle dry. If you do have to touch the paint, be sure to use *high quality* microfiber towels.

The self healing paint is on the Ms in Japan for 08 and the EX model in this country. Our paint needs all the help it can get and unfortunately we have nothing to help the M yet. It's most adviseable to get a clear bra before you get any nasty chips. I got one only after learning the hard way.

Thanks for the advice. Actually the car went right to the clear bra place before I put any miles on it.
