  Kinetix Intake Plenum

Just installed the Kinetix Plenum and Found a lot more mid range. Set up is coupled with an Injen cold air. Any suggestions to smoothen out the powerband and grab more torque?

it has been shown on my350z.com that this intake lost power versus stock manifolds. it does look good though.

Yes but not if you are supercharging it. And which kinetix plenum did you get? The black top or the chrome one that is top and bottom?

I also have the V+ plenum, and the injen CAI, but also have a Helux throttle body spacer, and i have noticed a significant increase in power over all. As far as this intake set-up losing power, i don't see that anywhere. I do plan to upgrade to the SSV manifold before i turbo the car because with the SSV you see better gains on boost than with the V+ but on N/A they are so close that it was a no brainer to by the V+ at $300 over the SSV at $800+, which allowed me (poor) to purchase the CAI and throttle body spacer at the same time i bought the plenum.

the V+ is ok/good DON"T go to the SSV that is the one people complain about. Go to my 350z.com and ask about it, on the dyno it looses power even with turbo. What you have is fine for turbo, I don't want to bust your bubble but I don't want you to make the same $900 mistake I did. I took my car to forged performance a z and g35 speciatly shop with that manifold for tuning and I lost 3hp.

thanks for the info, yeah i have heard of forged performance, they advertise a lot and seem to make some good cars.... I will talk to some people about the SSV. Have you e-mailed Kinetix Racing? I bought my plenum direct and they are really helpful and communicate well.... i am sure they would like to know how their products are doing. I actually am thinking of talking to them about it. I've seen a lot of G's and Z's with the SSV with boost, hmmm i almost wonder if it was bad tuning?

I have the V+ plenum. It's ok. I would be weary of some of kinetix's parts. Ive heard the same thing from other shops that the SSV is a waste of money. Also Ive heard their cats use cheap steel from china.

I e-mailed Kinetix Racing in regards to the *rumors* about the SSV losing power in either N/A or F/I applications. Also asked if they would back up there product and reward me a full refund upon dissatisfaction. They said there is a 30 day money back guarantee and a lifetime warranty on the product. They also agreed that either the tuning wasn't done right, or at all after installation of the SSV manifold. They also told me they have recently altered the SSV a little to get even more *gains* out of the F/I applications. With the 30 day money back guarantee its worth it if you are questionable, but interested in the product. If they got a lot of them back because of HP loss, i don't think they would sell so many of them....

they didn't claim anything good about it they just stated to me that they back their products with a 30day money back guarantee, which for those who may want to test it out or try it, they have 30 days to put it on and try it, then if they don't like it or w/e they can send it back. I am just stating for those interested in testing the SSV for themselves, Kinetix will give you your money back up to 30 days.

Don't get me wrong the people there are awesome and really helpfull and yes I did let them know. I sent it back and got all my money back with the exception of like $80 for shipping. I would do business with them again but I wouldn't buy the ssv again. I installed the manifold myself and dude there is very little possibility of making a mistake it is so easy to do. Plus it is not just me that lost power it happened to several people at that tunning place alone. To add testiment to this shop there are two z's here where I live one with a bolt on twin turbo and one with a vortec supercharger that both put down over 350whp and they also have done serious show cars that put down over 780whp the guy know what he is talking about and I trust him 100percent and he says it is bad. Keep what you have.

Damn, that sucks. I was really looking forward to ordering it for my '05 g coupe. I already have the 3in nismo cai and a throttlebody spacer. What a shame. Can anyone point me towards some other intake manifold upgrades? I've seen one of a lower plenum thats supposed to be good with either N/A of FI setups. Then there are always the spacers....Oh well, it would have looked nice in my engine bay.

Point 1 - Forged performance knows what they're doing.

Point 2 - THe first set of SSvs I saw had to be remillled to seat correctly due to wraping when they made them....and the actual intake box looks small to me base don my rudimentary engine knowledge - esspecially for FI, so it would make sense it doesn't make more power...but it is SHINY!

Point 3 -Cosworth.

Also, whomever said underdrive pulleys...yeah, you could do that...OOOOOR you could take a impact hammer and goto town on your crank for an hour and see what happens to your engine bearings....same thing really. On the later is less expensive and more fun. Take the money and buy a lighter flywheel and better clutch.

Tell me if you think if this is a good intake manifold setup.... (I'm throwing this out there since the kinetix SSV is no good by everyone's opinion.)

1.) aps tall boy
2.) mrev2 lower plenum upgrade
3.) throttlebody spacer (already have on)
4.) nismo 3in cai (already have on)

Or do you think that I should just stay with the setup I already have?
I love the sound and the new feeling when I dropped in my cai and then I threw on the spacer to compare and noticed an even smoother ride. I saw an article about the lower plenum on a 350z plus with a manifold spacer and the midrange increase looked good and continued pretty much after that and didn't affect the low end... Just curious.....

I'd take that money and buy an exhaust or other more beneficial upgrade to the car. Honestly. THe plenum spacers seem to waffle between moving the power band a bit or losing power and I don't see spending so much money on the Tall-boy plenum when you could get a better manifold or other upgrades with better benefits for the money...

Just a thought.

Sounds good to me.

What kind of throttlebody spacer do you have? I was thinkin bout one, but I don't know how beneficial it would be.

The setup that I am at now is:
1. Fujitsubo Legalis-R exhaust
2. SKunk2 5/16" plenum spacer (I'm goin to get rid of this for the Motordyne unit)
3. Nismo R-Tune cold air

As of plenum unit. I am going to get the
1. Motordyne Copper 5/16" plenum spacer
2. Motordyne manifold
3. APS Tall-Boy plenum
