  Audio in Drift Car Yes/No?

Ok I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is on drift cars with audio? Now before anyone tries to flame me or anything I'm not talking subs and all that ****. I am simply talking a cd player and stock speakers or maybe aftermarket speakers but just something to listen to around the track or when practicing? I am just wondering if this is a good idea or not cause if not i am removing all the wiring for the cd player and speakers. thanks

Whats the big deal? Some speakers and CD player is cool. Its your car right? Why are you gonna ask us whats best you? If you wanna listen to some tunes thats your call dude.

But when people have 400lbs of amps and speakers in thier car , and then say thier car is a "drift" car then.....

My question to you is , what makes any car a "drift" car unless its a full on D1 or Formula D car?

well i want to seriously compete is the only reason i ask. i mean yes i would like to listen to something while i drive it and drift. but hell no i aint about the loud *** systems that hurt my head lol. they say if its to loud ur to old well i guess i am to old cause i dotn like subs and ****. i just want to know if its a bad idea if ur wanting to seriously drift later in the future. cause it could save me later on from pulling it all out.

Like i said , its your call man. I personally dont have a stereo or speakers because i like to hear everything my car is doing , even when just driving normal just because. I might strip out all the wires that run to the stereo , speakers and antenna but then again on long trips not having a radio sucks. Im about to super glue everything down in my interior that rattles from those damn Project Silvia engine mounts.

yea i know i am just lookin for some input. i mean i may put a stereo in and may not i aint sure. but it will suck if i have to take the car on a long trip to a drift event cause i dont have a truck to pull it. but yea i got alot of work ahead of me on mine. i am goin to fiberglass a dash for it for a good clean look and that way i can mount everything in the best locations that i need mounted in the dash.

I keep my bose system in my roadster, and when I had my IS300 I had subs in the back and used the car for drifting, I had the setup ready for quick disconnect though, but for competition weight is weight and wherever you can save a few pounds to lean out your car then.... IMHO

yea that is why i was gonna remove the speakers from the doors and back and custom mount some behind the seats for quick removal and just leave the cd player in the car. but still no subs cause i cant handle all that bass all the time anymore. but i appreciate the info.

hehe funny u should ask.. i have at one time had the gutted ae86 hatchback with a cage and all stripped down.. yet i had an amp and a sub mounted to the car in it. i like my music what can i say.. as far as hindering performance dont think it does. im not that good i need some perfect weight balance i dont guess.lol. the last ae86 i had had the full interior and all and the mini system.. in fact the latest 240 i got will have that stuff in it soon enough. but to each his own. man.. just do what u feel thats what drifting is about doing YOUR thing.

i never really understood removing the stereo from your drift car.

i removed A LOT of my interior, including the two rear speakers (even the unnecessary wiring), but i still had my two fronts. you need them. staging is boring without tunes, need some punk rock to get you through the heat and boredom of sitting on tarmac waiting for your turn.

even a full race car needs at least one speaker and an ipod, i mean come on :D

if its not metal, its not music.

I'll take the opposite view here.

If you can hear your stereo through a helmet and over your engine, you:

a) Have too much audio equipment
b) aren't making enough power

All kidding aside, I prefer to hear everything my car is doing. On a high-strung car like my convertible, I ripped out ALL the audio - All I need to hear is boost.

Bottom line? Your car, your call, brotha.

i would think it's a given that once the checkered drops, mute goes on. (plus s chassis' don't exactly have half stacks for front speakers)

i still have a habit of rolling my window down when i want to go fast through turns so i can better hear whats going on.

I really don't like to listen to music except when I drive. I really like to listen to classic rock like the Beatles and then i'll throw in some Styx mainly mr. roboto. It's kinda weird that a 16 year old black kid would like the Beatles though

I miss my music a little bit. My stereo got stolen a month or so ago, and I decided that I didn't want to afford to replace it (cause it'll just get stolen again). I guess I'll replace it and get an alarm soon. I need an Iron Maiden fix, bad.

That huge gap does come in handy for storing important documents (speeding tickets) and such that I don't want blowing around my car when the windows are down.

I cant stand it anymore. I snapped today on i-95. Going on 5 years without tunes finally hit me. I am offically putting Stereo and speakers back in my car. Im just going to buy a nice head unit with some door speakers.

my audio system includes an ipod some wires and little speakers that go directly into you ears. they are really loud in there. then again my interior is a seat, shifter and gauges with no dash. and my windows are lexan. i think they are broken cause they dont move. probably due to lack of mechanical parts.

to each his own.

Basic audio yes, ICE hell no!

I own a car audio store and planned on tearing every single piece of audio out of it. After driving the car a week. There is no way I would be able to drive it with no stereo at all. Especially how loud it is with no interior! So I sport stock CD player and a set of 6.5's up front. It adds a whole 5 pounds to the car? Dont eat mcdonalds for 2 weeks and you take away that 5 pounds .

Basic audio only, no need for some high expensive audio parts for a drift car. It's good to listen to some metal tunes while drifting.

if you don't have power then audio is out. everytime i look at my gutted white car i find something new to rip out. every bit helps. i do have a couple of 6in rockfords up front and a radio i take right out at the track. i also own an audio shop and i own a few 240s when i got into these cars i learned to listen to the car so much my cd player is practically turned down to nothing. i feel that listening to you car will make you a better driver.

First i would like to say hello to all of yaw this is my first post, i agree different strokes for different folks but even though sometimes i myself will listen to some tunes to keep my mind clear i prefer not to when im really going hard at it because sound is your first notification of a problem especially if you know your car well. other than that why not
