LG has a hybrid HD/Blu Ray player. From my standpoint that is where my money is best spent. Really I don't see either catching on anytime soon.

I voted HD-DVD because that's what I have chosen. I have nothing against Blu-Ray except for the current price of players. There are plenty of movies I'd love to get a hold of on BR. But HD-DVD has been keeping me pretty happy for the last few weeks. As for the LG combo player, the reviews have been less than spectacular. I think Samsung will be releaseing one if they haven't already. But it's still more expensive to get a combo player than it is to get them seperately.

Personally I went with the HD-DVD. They're both comparable in technology. HD-DVD is somewhat underutilized but its more durable, has more interactivity, and has what for me is a better library of titles at the moment now that MGM is waving goodbye to blu-ray.

I dont think that they are. Blue ray has more advanced processing. I have run both side by side while tv shopping and Blue ray was a little more refined. And if you are running surround sound blue ray eats HD-dvd's breakfast after pimp slapping its daddy and sleeping with its momma. Sony was brilliant in creating blue ray and then marketing a game system/computer/player for a price that was not too far off from the 360. Mark my words, the next thing to happen is Sony will start offering internet services for all blue ray players and then they will start offering Blue ray downloads. HD-DVD...your time is limited.

You didn't eat your broccoli. and you didn't get in line with all the other kids. you never really cared about where you sat at the lunch table or which clique you were in then or what club you are in now you knew that the best way to live was by doing what you wanted not just what you were told. soon everyone else began to notice. you wanted to go your own way. and you did.

HD DVD movies are on sale everywhere! So far I feel like I am the winner in this HD battle. I just bought a Toshiba A-30 for like $50. came with two movies and upscales my old DVDs to perfection. Sony did win this format war, but Blueray movies have to compete with DVDs now and they are loosing. I personally wont buy a Blue ray player now...especially when they are asking $34.99 per movie...I don't think so

Blu-ray is an optical storage format. If you're downloading your media, it's not on optical storage. You can't have blu-ray downloads. High-def downloads, sure. But not blu-ray. Unless future players start coming with recorders (and we're talking about the wonderful "we trust our customers are far as we can throw them" Sony here) AND a download service, you're never going to see downloadable blu-ray movies.
