I am new to Nico and would like any advice from the experts in this group. My mother in law has a custom made 1981 Datsun 200SX roadster constructed by American Custom Coachworks. It has been sitting in her garage for years and she wants to sell it. It has all the original parts, and she is the original owner. I know this sounds corny, but its the "little old lady owned, garage kept, original condition, rare car" story. It's never been in a wreck, and has about 150,000 miles on it. We can't find any information on this car so we have no idea what its worth. She loved this car, and would like to find someone who would enjoy it as she did. I guess if anyone would know, it would be someone in this community. Has anyone come across one of these cars? Any ideas on the best way to reach someone who might like to buy it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks alot for your feedback. I was expecting the group from the forum to say that its worth somewhere around ~4K. I drove it about 2 weeks ago and it runs like a champ and amazingly still has alot of pick up and go off the line. I was just wondering why the RPM's get up so high so fast before it changes gears (its an automatic) or is that pretty characterstic of Datsun/Nissan?
I do want to put it up for sale but because of the uniqueness of the car and how much of a great shape it has been kept. Thats why I got linked to this forum. The car according to some experts in this forum and outside this forum have ranged this car to be worth $3K-5K. In my opinion, I think its worth $4K considering the condition its in - still runs great but I admit that I am not expert when it comes to Datsun/Nissan cars.
If there is anyone else out there who has any additional advice or input about this car, let me know.
i have a 83 200sx coupe, i bought it from the original owner a few months back, it had 60k miles, it was 5 speed (in my opinion more valuable than auto) mint interior everything worked, power windows power steering, ac, heat, no rust at all, just some faded original paint, and i got it for 1150, and he had to push me to pay that much, so id say youd be lucky to get 2k, i know it sucks, and to you it might be worth more, but the fact is its a very slow automatic, emissions choked engine putting out a measly 100bhp (if its lucky) and probably gets mediocre gas milage at best. so the only real thing its got going for it, is the convertable mod, which in my opinion will decrease the value, because if most people are like me, convertables are less sought after. keep it, put some money into it and make it a beast!
Is this car available for sale? I would love to buy it and give it a wonderful home. I owned a 1981 200SX two tone silver hardtop, easily the best car I've ever owned. Sold it in 1987, and started missing it very quickly. Wish I still had it, if anyone has a 1981 200sx available to sell, please contact me at

Please use this email only for offering a 200SX 1981 model year, and don't give it out beyond the post, thanks!
