I Installed a Megan header/downpipe, that I bought on ebay, on my '98 240sx. Everything fit good, except the EGR tube. I need to make an extension, or adapter to go from the factory tube to the header. Does anyone make an adapter for this, and if anyone ran into this same problem, how did you get it to work? Any advice would be appreciated.

I know this is an old post but I wanted to know what you ended up doing. I am running into a similar situation with running the EGR to the down pipe.

I am "thinking" about running some 1/2 ss flex line so I don't have to worry about alignment. I think that line would fit over the EGR tube nice. Crimp it down and see what happens.

Another thought I had would be to get some ss braided line from mcmaster and get some special fitting and hook it up right. Now sure about the heat though.

Anyway some thought on what you did or anyone else wuold be beneficial.

Thanks

I would just take it off. There are a few posts about that, but what i did was cut off the end that fit into the header and screwed it in over a nickle. For the intake manifold part i just made a block off plate. I know its not exactly what either of you asked, but it is what i did.

Sorry for bringing this old thread back, I tried installing the new Megan header and downpipe, ran across the same problem. Even the O2 sensor won't fit on the downpipe, so does any one fixed this problem? like an adapter for the EGR tube and the O2 sensor.

I bought one of those cheap chinese N/A headers off ebay and ran into the same problems with the egr tube. I know its not a turbo header but the same method can be applied. I cut the egr tube off halfway acroos the back of the motor where you have a good straight run. Then I found some 1/2" stainless steel tubing that used compression fittings. I had a ferrule welded to the stainless tubing because with a ferrule it fit good and snug in the original egr tubing. Then it was a matter of bending and test fitting. Once I got it where I wanted it I had the two pieces of tubing welded together. Then I used a compression fitting to attach it to the header.

Hey man, any chance you could help me out with the same issue. What parts/sizes did you need for this and how did you hook up to the header?I've spent about 4 days and 5 trips to different hardware stores trying to make this cheap ebay header work. Here's some pics:

Oh and emissions are strict here so EGR block offs are out of the question.

EGR doesn't throw codes AFAIK. Block that thing off and bolt the tube into the right "place," just dont plug it in.

For $10 an hour I doubt if they'd look hard enough to notice.

Sorry I meant smog test. I'm sure that will notice.

Actually just tailpipe test. No visual.

You can pass smog without it, just a little tougher. Also you can use denatured alcohol to pass smog. Search and you'll see the directions.
