  Anybody here have a Traeger?

The company that I work for sells these Grills and I recently borrowed one from work to see what it was like to cook on one.

Holy crap, it made the most delicious, juicy chicken I've EVER had. It's amazing. Even crappy, pre-made hamburgers that my brother brought over didn't taste too bad.

I can but one below dealer cost, so I'm saving up my pennies.

Anybody else have a Traeger and love it?

Hey!

I was thinking about starting a thread similar to this.

I have a Traeger and I LOVE it.

I've gone to some fancy restaurants and still none of their steaks will beat a Traeger steak.

I've cooked about everything on mine: Pizza, Burritos, Salmon, a whole turkey, . . . and I could go on for pages .

I know this is an old thread but it deserves a bump.

The Hardware store I sometimes work at has sold over 50 of them here in this area.

Hmmmm...from Oregon but half of their grills are named "Tex" or "Texas". Interesting.

What is this 'Trager' that you speak of?

If you did not build it,
it is not yours.

The Traeger pellet grill is the path to truly awesome grilling. Once you've tasted food made on one, ESPECIALLY (IMHO) chicken and steak, you'll never really be able to enjoy those foods again if they're not cooked on a Traeger.

That sounds over the top, but it's 100% true

Personally I like the Green Egg grill:

We sell both the Green Egg and the Traeger. To be completely honest about both, IMHO, the Treager makes great tasting BBQ easier. The Green Egg can make the same food tasting just as good, but IMHO it takes more work. The drawback to the Traeger is that it doesn't hold it's heat as well as the BGE and it uses A LOT more fuel than the BGE. But the Traeger doesn't require a separate smoker pot and wood for smoke flavor, as it's built into the pellets. Also, if you're into tailgating, the Traeger is easier to transport than the BGE.

They're both great grills and they both have their pro's and con's.

That is very true. I like food cooked off both but taking a ham/roast and slow cooking it almost all day in a BGE and you have some phenomenal eating. Now, for steaks I would probably prefer the Traeger. Ribs can go either way and straight out BBQ is probably better and easier on the Traeger.

At our local Hardware store we have a Traeger that is built into a trailer. You hitch it onto your truck and off you go. It is big enough to cook for hundreds of people.

We've got one of those as well. The boss bought it primarily for use during our company parties and demo days, but it's become so popular that he's started renting it out as well!

I believe they are both dealer only items. You can go to the website for either and they have a dealer lookup.
