hey SHIFT_COUPE, It would be nice to have some explanation about why you are blocking and locking threads about the turbo kits.

450HP!!!! what gives? I thought we could talk all we wanted about altima coupe stuff. Moderators are about controlling the flamewar threads and using the ban hammer on offensive users, not stopping us from talking about enthusiast stuff!

I for one don't like this censorship, I feel you are doing this for you without thinking about the community...

And so what if it's like free advertising for them... this whole forum is a HUGE advertisement for Nissan and I bet that the site isn't getting one penny out of them.

This forum isn't about advertising for Nissan, it's about helping Nissan enthusiasts. NICO survives by advertising - do you have any idea how much money it takes to run a forum with 75,000+ members, over 270,000 threads, and 3 MILLION posts? That money has to come from somewhere, and sponsors are the ones that make this place possible.

That being said, I don't know anything about this Fox Marketing deal, an admin will have to address that part.

Fox is not an approved Sponsor of NICO so we have no "leverage" in case of issues that our members have with them. While having new products within the community is a great thing, we have been able to avoid lots of drama and upset members by sticking with our policies. The last thing we want is some company throwing out "kits" which result in members being taken for their hard-earned cash or resulting in mechanical problems with their vehicles. Not saying Fox would do that but other forums have had such issues that we have avoided by "sticking to our guns".

As you can see, our stance is not necessarily about advertising dollars either.

and that's why, in your mind, we can't talk about the ONLY turbo kit announced for our brand new car? can we talk about breathing air? or are you going to say that we can't because you can't get money from air and the "do you know how much money it takes to..." crap?

That's so swell , yay! this forum rocks! hey I just bought a nice polisher from [EDITED COMPAGNY'S NAME BECAUSE YOU DON'T GET ANY MONEY FROM THEM] and it works awesome!

Ask any regular from the altima coupe forum, they will tell you that I gave a lot to this forum and if its going to be like this, well have to start looking elsewhere for a place to talk about altima coupe related stuff

EDIT: well at least I like your answer better audtatious, thank you for talking the time to reply with a real one not like nchopp.

I have no problem with discussion of any future turbo setups for the Coupe. We just are protecting our members from potential harm. There have been issues with Fox and ZPI outside of NICO and we don't want to promote a company that is not a sponsor and has proved problematic to other enthusiasts.

ok well if its because they made shaddy things in the past I understand it that its to protect us. thx for the replies audtatious and SHIFT_COUPE.

oh yeah AGAIN NOT THX to nchopp for the sucktacular response

And a last thing, it would be nice if you could add in the **Table of Contents - READ FIRST!** thread something about foxmarketing and the reasons too, like you both said

I'm ok now, we're a big happy familly again, yay!

mcheddadi, don't go anywhere. We value your input and all your media and review posts I can understand your frustration right off the bat. Before I could act on an explanation, your thread cropped up. Hope you can see a little more on our side now and understand how valuable it is to help our members.

Lets get back to business

There is nothing wrong with what Chopp said as he is correct and he did state he would let an Admin respond concerning Fox. In general, we don't remove threads and links for discussions concerning others products (unless it is someone blatantly promoting, which should be understandable). In this particular case, Fox teamed up with ZPI for a Versa turbo setup earlier this year and proceeded to blast the board about it (self-promoting). In these issues we are kinda "iffy" on handling it as we do not want to surpress content. In the case of ZPI, we knew they were a bad deal as they are local to a number of our staff, including myself and we were aware of their "history". Fox being associated with them puts them on our "beware radar" at this point and the threads are being removed for now.

Again, I'm not stating Fox themselves have any issues with their products but we want to make sure they work within the framework of our policies and work with our staff.

I'd like to add, that in the future questions, comments or inquiries such as this should be done via email to a Mod or Admin. It's good netiquette.

In this case, aside from NICO's thought's on the subject, we don't need to further discuss either company, their products or their past dealings, unless someone wants to post their first hand experience. We've seen it time and time again, people spout something they think they've heard, seen or read.

We'd much rather separate ourselves from these topics.

Understandable. We get the occasional nasty eMail calling us Nazi's (among other gems) based on our actions. There is usually a reason for what we do that may not be clear to the members or those involved. For the most part, what is good for NICO is good for the members. Without us promoting and "working the forum content" NICO would not be what it is today nor would we be able to put on the numerous large events that we do each year

We do hope people understand at times as the last thing we want to do is turn this site into some elitist community. That's just unacceptable to us.
