79 Datsun B210 2-door sedan
7:20 PM 10/7/2007
Hello there, I was just wondering if anyone would know anything about this car I am looking at buying, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get it, but it is a 79 Datsun B210 and it has 3000 kms, thats right, not a word of a lie, it has 3000 kms, the guy said that it has basically just sat in his back yard and rusted its entire life. So as you might have guessed its got a bit of rust, but under the hood is an engine that literally drives like new. So basically I'm thinkin about going into this as a project car. The guy wants 500 bucks for it. so I was wondering if anyone could give me any heads up, or pointers on wat I'm getting my self into here... If you wanna look at it its on the internet at http://www.usedregina.com/clas...-cars
I had a B210 I was fising up untill it got stolen ( damn )
I have never seena B210 fixed up at any of the Datsun car shows I have attended. It makes a fine car, mine looked good, ready for paint when I lost it.
At some poin t I will bring my dream back to life,as soon as I find a decent one.
The 210 ( sucesor of the B210 ) is a fine car too. In Japan there is a cult of followers, and these cars look awesome, you got to see it to believe it. In the US I think there are none ZERO B210s nor 210s in shape.
Hey guys haha sorry to keep ya waiting for a reply... um I bought the car, it is a 210 not a B210. But I have a problem, I blew the thermostat housing :S, pushin the car a bit to hard I guess haha. and usually this wouldn't be a problem for me, but umm I have no idea wat engine this is haha, I thought it was a 1.4L but... its not so I am baffled as to wat engine that is, and I'm going to have to order this part in from somewhere so I would like to get the right part on the first try.
And no the engine is in way better condition then wat it looks like, its very dirty right now and has coolant all over it as a result of the blown thermostat housing haha... Heres some more pictures of the body.
The body is actually in not to bad condition, all the rust has been properly taken care of and the car is actually ready to be sanded down, and yes, the car is very dirty, when clean it is actually quite shiny haha. and the dash is all taken out at the moment as well as the door panels. the cars striped down and being cleaned up a bit. lets here your input. and if someone could tell me wat engine that is that would be a huge help
i would say it's a A15. it looks exactly like mine, mine is an 77 b210, it has the A14. but i hear that newer ones had the A15.{1.5 liter} either way it's a a-series motor and the housing might be the same anyway. also mine has an engine plate on the left side of the firewall. let me know if you find a good source of parts. cool car, it's my favorite datsun color. i have 2 orange datsuns. is yours a dogleg 5-speed?

Thanks man, nah I couldn't find any engine I.D plate anywhere and theres no where that knows how to de-code a 12 digit PIN, but 1.5 sounds about right, I thought I had a 1.4 cause thats wat I was told usually came in those cars. And no I have a 4-spd in that baby haha, I wish it was 5, maybe it would go off the line i little faster haha, its pretty slow right now, but that will be fixed, it has no exhaust right now, so it has absolutely no back pressure, meaning no power. The old exhaust was hurt and filled with rust... talk about a smoke show, so we ripped all that out and we're gonna throw some exhaust thats a little more performance like. and we'll see how it goes, I do enjoy the car alot tho haha, its awesome.
did you find a housing? i need one now! i replaced the thermostat and the housing cracked on re-installed. now i am leaking. let me know if you know where to get one.

The reason I couldn't find one is because its gay and has this other hole on it that goes up this pipe and then comes to a dead end, so basically coolant just goes up there and does nothing... (I dunno if thats wat its supposed to be like... but it is and it runs fine and doesn't effect anything so watev) SO basically wat I did was I took my old thermostat housing to an auto wrecker and found a 2 bolt (very generic) thermostat housing and slapped that on... (the one that I dound that fit was off of a toyota RR-22 or RE-22... I can't remember wat the engine was called but I know that the 1990 toyota trucks have them... they're little 4 bangers. but anyways, so I got that and put that on and then just used a tap and die set and tapped some threads into that other hole that does nothing and plugged it with a bolt and seal
