14 signed up so far. A good start, but a result in February won't happen without a few dozen more, soon.

| Quote, originally posted by mkaresh » | | In late 2005 I started conducting reliability research. I'm reporting absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide reliability information on new models like the 2008 Rogue very quickly--if enough owners sign up to help out. The sooner enough owners of the 2008 get involved, the sooner others considering it will have some reliability information to factor into their decision. NICOClub made this possible with the Versa, for which over 180 owners have signed up to participate. Hopefully we can make the same happen with the Rogue. Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter. To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results for free. For the details, and to sign up to help out: Vehicle reliability research |
If You haven't signed up yet, PLEASE DO! Wouldn't you like to see reliability data on your new Rogue?. We need your help.

Thank you for such excellent support.44 owners have signed up so far. However, only 15 of these have responded to the survey, for a total of 31 months of data. I only show a result at all if there are at least 45 months of data, and asterisk this result unless there are at least 75 months of data. At this point, there's virtually no chance of a result without an asterisk. I think most people simply took delivery too recently. But there could well be an asterisked result. Just need at least 14 more months of data (and the more, the better). A follow-up email with links to the survey goes out tomorrow. If you've already signed up, please respond to it. If you haven't yet signed up, please consider doing so. Details and link to the enrollment form here: Auto reliability research

Is an asterisk a good or bad thing? All I know is that it's SHIFT-8 on my keyboard. Usually its a symbol that requires you to look at the bottom of the page for a deeper meaning, but you've left that part out

Oops, my bad. Usually I say "asterisked for insufficient sample size."I attach an asterisk when there's a useful amount of data, but not enough for a solid result. I remove the asterisk when there are at least 25 response totalling 75 months of ownership. The Rogue is currently at 33/54. 56 owners are signed up, but many of these probably didn't own the Rogue in December, so they aren't eligible to respond to the current survey (the surveys always cover the previous month). Additional participants always helpful. For the details, and to sign up to help: Auto reliability research

|
My wife got a Rogue a month ago (SL AWD). About two weeks ago, when she has the streeing wheel cranked and takes off from a stop, there is a loud "thunk" noiseand it feels like you just hit something. This happens most often in revers. Had it to the dealer 3 times now. First time they figured out it was the U-joint... and they would order the part. The second time-they said the part came in... we dropped off the car-but it turned out the part was "broken". waiting now on the third try- they say it will be fixed today.

my wife picked up her 2008 Rogue Feb 2, 2008. IIt's been in the shop six times (for a total of two weeks) with the same probelm. Something in the drive train is causing a loud "thump" noise and it feels like you've just hit or run over something. The problem occurs when stopped and just starting to go with the steering wheel turned- forward or reverese... The dealer has been in contact with Nissan Tech-line... now they are sending someone out to the dealer from Nissan to look into it.

Based on what we've been seeing in TrueDelta's surveys, yours is a rare case. Not that this makes it any better, I know.

If well documented as such- you qualify fro a new vehicle in exchange under the Magnuson/Moss act. Nissan gives NO hassle on documented cases.

I bought my Rogue in March, 08... A new transmission is now being installed. I posted a comment regarding the gurgling water sound... But I love the convenience of the vehicle too much to even consider trading to another model. I also have heard the clunk as listed by another member. Forgot to tell my service guy about that too... Will have them check the U-joint! Hopefully will not have to use the Magnuson/Moss act! Fantastic forum!

I was just recently contacted by one of your tech representatives for my area in response to my inquiry about my 2008 Nissan Rogue CVT transmission noise. It appears that your fix for this problem is to replace the transmission. This seems odd, has there is no guarantee that the next transmission will not have the same rumbling CVT noise. Also this a new car and you don’t expect to have the transmission replaced after a few months of ownership. In fact checking with the blog page of the Nico club, this seems to be a problem with many Nissan Rogue owners. I have called my local Nissan dealers and found that all them are having similar complaints from some of their Rogue owners. Ramsy Nissan has had four complaints, Rockland Nissan seven complaints, White plains Nissan three complaints, O’Brien Nissan two complaints and Route 23 Nissan has had five complaints. What is also interesting is all of these dealers have the same answer to fixing the problem and that is, “Nissan is a where of the problem” and they are waiting for a software fix. It appears to me that Nissan sold the vehicle with a known design flaw with the Rogues CVT transmission. I wait for your reply and resolution to my complaint
