  S12 Forum?

I think the s12's deserve their own forum here on nico...just an idea that I would love to see put into action.

just out of curiosity, how many s12 owners are on here?

we've got a handful, myself included...they're technically lumped into the Silvia forum..but that's dominated by 240 kids.

"Now you may ask if I regret it, if I would do it differently if I could, if I would take it back. NOT A CHANCE!!!!! I went for it. I put it all on the line. I always will. I knew what the consequences would be if I failed, and I was willing to accept them. So any of you reading who might be feeling a twinge of sympathy, don't. I made my decisions, and I accept the consequences. I'm no victim. And to those who are thinking about preaching at me, don't bother. I won't hear you. I haven't accomplished anything in this life worth remembering by playing it safe. That's boring to me anyway."

You wouldn't happen to know what is going on with club-s12.org would you?

try to go their site, it gives you some kind of error message like somebody forgot to pay for the domain or something.

Wow you know I almost posted a thread about this very subject...weird. It would be nice to have a forum solely devoted to S12s. I also noticed Club-S12 was down.

If there's no plan for a S12-specific forum, can we at least get a 200SX picture thread going?

actually...a 200sx RWD forum would be nice....

it kinda sounds like you've got a late MKI...I can't remember for sure...think they changed mid '86.

my car is an '85 Turbo model....non running....

yea everything on the 200sx forum that is already up is all about the FWD model 200sx's.

...and if club-s12 is down for more than a short period of time it we be good to be able to get the info on here.

they're back.

they're great for S12 specific info no doubt...NICO however reigns supreme for engine info...well, unless you're messing with a CA18ET...god rest you.

I need to get mine on the road and start messing with the suspension and brakes while saving more money for the swap when the engine inevitably goes from too much jackassery.

Suspension on an s12 is so limited. The best option we have is to swap out the entire front setup for that of an s13, but that still leaves the rear. Not to mention how hard it is to just a pair of front coilovers. Im pretty sure I want to drop in CA18det because its basically one of the cheapest jdm engines out there, and the fact that the CA20 tranny will bolt up to the det. What do you plan on doing engine and suspension wise?

probably get S13 coilovers up front and drop the back for the time being....I'd like to put an S13 rear sub in...but that's quite a chore.

Anyone have a clue if a 1985 200SX hatch 2.0 5 speed with 130k, 2 owners and original paint is worth $1000? I haven't gone to take a look at the car yet, but I'm debating picking it up instead of my project 240SX.

im all for a RWD s12 forum, to answer the guy above me that is the ca20e engine and it is NOT powerful. the milage isnt bad and the price is not bad for that kinda car, i paid 700 for mine and its needed a few hundred in parts for its 1.8l turboed engine.

if your 240sx has a KA engine you may look into swapping it over and getting better and more reliable power overall versus the ca20e.

check the wheel wells the strut towers and the frame rails for rust. any major areas or spots are NOT worth buying. minor places that you feel you can repair are ok, but if its got deep rust issues walk away.

You might want to try Z31 parts. They looked damned close when I was messing with my US12.

a lot of the rear end parts are interchangeable.

it's no big thing to use poly bushings from a Z31 on them.

the swap for the front S13 doesn't look to hard...could probably be done in a day...if you've got all the parts right.

does it run and how is the body?

if it's near mint...I'd still offer them 500...and not pay more than 800.

that model should have the R180 rear end though....but you can swap in a Z31 R200 if you want, it'll handle more power and easy to find an LSD for it.

just remember that you're not gonna be able to just look at one of the sponsors and find aftermarket parts for it.

Hi, I'm very lost here, so I really need you help

I'm about to buy a fully operational S12 and a trashed GTR R32 but I have a lot of doubts. Thing is I'd rather buy the parts I want from de GTRs for FAR less money than the whole car.

For example, the full engine (RB26DETT) + gear box + differential + ecu is half the price of the whole car

What should I buy in order to do a swap in to the s12??

I'm also interested in the suspenssion and brakes or is there a better swap for this?

Is there any aftermarket for the s12?

Thanks for the help

The aftermarket for the s12, especially in comparison to the s13, is practically non-existent. Their are a lot of swaps from other Nissan models to update things such as suspension and brakes. From what I've seen in these forums already you won't have a problem finding info.

Soon it might actually get big enough to support more than one forum so one on here might not be a bad idea.

Agreed Iggy, I think the S12 is starting to build popularity. Prices have definitley gone up over the last year or so.

And just to get this out of the way - IMO, engine (except VG30E) and electrically, the S12 is probably the worst car Nissan has ever made.

Suspension isn't too hard to figure out, though, if you're willing to do some research and build something unique. Definitley something you can't rely on bolt-ons with.

drkn has the same problem I have. There isn't enoough s12/RB swaps done for an informative and easy swap. I have an 87 s12 and I plan on doing the same thing. The info issue is the only thing that kills the progress. I guess I have to just jump in and do it, once I find the time and money to do it...
Hey FutureDRFTer, I have one that needs some work sitting out side of my garage. It's in some what decent shape, it runs and needs an alternator. I was going to use it as a donar car for the one I have in my garage but now that I have my mind set on a RB26DETT swap, I won't be needing the car any more. The only thing is that it will need a title search. I know the last owner of it. The car is legit. He just lost the tilte before giving it to me. I have the papers for the title search. I haven't had time to do it, though. Your choice. I know what state you reside in so it may be a trip for you. Think about it. I'm practically giving it away... not really but is going for cheap. $600.00... That's in any ones budget!

Sorry about that info on the 23rd about selling the s12 I have sitting out side of my garage. My soon to be project is in the garage and I won't be getting rid of that one. I've actually started tearing it down, the one out side, so that I can get rid of the body. It's going as parts, if any one is really interested in 1988 s12 parts. I'm selling parts for cheap and all of it was in a working car, even though the car wasn't mint. The engine is in good working order, though. It may need to get refreshed if some one wants the CA20E it has. Here's my cell number- (203)751-2373. I'm on the East Coast, so please take into consideration what time you call, if you're from the Mid West and further. Thanks.
Hey Mr1DER, who on C-S12 has a RB in their S12? I've been trying to get that info and it seems that i'm getting stone walled on the info. If you go there and see why, I'll understand if you wont say. I haven't helped my self on C-S12. And that's all the info I REALLY wanted. Serves me right, I guess...

This for all you S12 owners out there. I stumbled upon this great website for brand new nissan 200sx parts for way cheap. Don't know if you guys already know about it but they have thousands of parts for all nissan cars from the 70's and 80's. I guess nissan was going to take all of these parts to the dump, but some guy caught wind of it and offered nissan a chunk of money for the whole lot of parts. He set up his own website specializing in these brand-spanking-new nissan oem parts. A lot of these parts are no longer available from nissan. I bought a new driver seat and it is awesome. They have everything from door panels, interior peices, radiators, engine parts, etc. Check it out. Here is the link.
