Well I got bored today and decided to figure out how to change the lightbulbs in the hazard, pop light, and defrost switches on the console I knew they could be changed just didnt realize how easy it was to do it.

Materials: Screw driverParts: 272-1150 from radio shack ( i think not sure) or 25169-89906 from nissanCost: 3-20$ depending on how many lights you replaceTime: About ten minutes give or take

Well to start out pop out you switch and take it to your work area

Now either turn it on its side or it will be right on the back you should see a little round blue disk or brown to depending on switch thats your light bulbheres what it looks like from the inside

Now take your screwdriver and turn it half a twist and it should unlock the bulb now you can either tap it out or gently pry it out if you have more problems you can pop the tabs on the side and open up the switch CAUTION:::: SWITCH IS SPRING LOADED AND SOME HAVE BALL BEARINGS IN THEM SO BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU MUST DO THIS so you dont loose any parts.

Next take your lightbulb out and replace with the new one thats it your done put the switch back in. pretty damn simple right go figure if you think anything needs to be added let me know il add more pics or explain myself more.......p.s.- as of right now im unsure of a led modification it looks like it can possibly be done but I dont think with 5mm leds they seem to big but if someone wants to give it a try let me know.

Excellent! My DCC unit was missing some lights so I yanked the bulbs from some of my discarded old console buttons, put their bulbs on the bases or fuses and reinstalled them. Works perfectly.

i changed out the bulb just like in the pic twice and both new bulbs blew right after i installed them. could this be a fuse problem?? if so, where is the fuse for this assembly.??

I had no idea this was here until I saw it on the Article = Custom Title thread.

Looks like you managed to slip it in while I was working on mine.... Somewhere between July and October

Either way, nice write-up.

Light bulb replacement-dash

I put it in my alphabetic list of tutorials in my signature. Is there anything on how to replace illumination for display gauges ie speedometer etc?

I kind of hope not. That'd be almost as bad as 'how to change your headlights'..

Are you volunteering to make a tutorial on headlight replacement? Good idea. some discussion of various types of bulbs would be useful too. there is an article on how to paint the plastic housing that encases the bulb. you might get some pics from there. Good luck!

Cool. Not yet. I'll see about adding that to it if I get the chance. My cluster is still pulled out, so it shouldn't be too hard to snap some pics.
