According to my local Nissan Dealer there will be only 500 imported to U.S. and will cost 85k (10k more than the mags say) and will most likely be sold OBO style. He also said that 110k wouldnt be too surprising. If you think about that its only 10 per state... Getting one of these things is now impossible for my family...Now there is hope that my nissan dealer is wrong, but seeing as he was right about their nismo Z (how long it would take to come in ect) and how we got one of the first 350z convertibles in California from him i dont Doubt him...

the guy that told you that is either

A. a liar

B. misinformed

C. retarded

D. all of the above

It makes no sense for Nissan to spend all the time and expense to comply the new GT-R with whatever gay laws the states have now just to import 500. They wouldn't even recoup the R&D costs.

Well i hate to say it but it dont surprise me cuz theres 1200 nissan dealers thats 1/2-3 getting one. Seems about right, and im sure tahts only the first year. So I dont think your 100% right on that. And again when we were buying my dads car only 8 dealers in So cAll had a convertible it was the only silver/black top grand touring that wasnt sold, probably in the first 20-50 convertible 350zs out... and he got the Nismo Z shipped early by 2weeks and got it 5 days b4 it came out. That guy is ****ing ausome with hookups... He even traded 2normal Zs to get us our convertible.

you have two competing interests here.

The manufacturer who wants to move as many units as possible, period

and

The dealer who wants to move as many as he can without moving so many that he can't artificially inflate the price.

It should be interesting to watch. Well if I cared. That monstrosity is ten pounds of ugly in a five pound bag. I wouldn't want it even if it was decently priced.

Very few, if any, automotive manufacturers recoup their R&D costs the first year of production. I've already spoken my mind on this topic on another thread, but my guess is that Nissan will artificially starve the year 1 and (perhaps) year 2 market here to create a backlog of fence-sitters who will then jump at the chance to own one when more are imported and you can actually buy one for MSRP.

Look what's happening with the new Audi R8. You have people paying $10,000 just for a spot in line.

It would be funny if they pulled a 240SX and sent it to america with a neutered engine.

I have a feeling that the skyline I mean Gt-r will be introduced like the Corvette was back in the day....they gave a Corvette to famous people and sold like 30 to private parties. My guess is that in the last half of the year they will only sell 500 to build hype and make sure it can stand up to american driving.

Hmm maybe i really love my dad and i want him to get a really good car in his price range, that he will enjoy? god... people really just dont care about their parents anymore do they? But i have a feeling that the gtr will not fail us. 480hp to meet cally standards... that will be more like 450 after everything but... im sure it will expand the vq market like it was on steroids. and the biggest thing im looking forward to is the possibility of a gtr engine swap.... (well in due time there is bound to be jdms) well next to the fact that as prices for vq increase, prices for rb, sr, ka, vh will drop ~edit~ i dont think it will be neutered, as it is geared towards performance. lets look at it this way: 240sx in america would be more of an eco car. no need for turbo... (NOT that i am doubting the 240's potentials tho, its been proven as an amazing car)300zx tt, performance platform, turbos make sense to increase hype.350z was a let down, but the engine was designed by a frenchie... (yeah )gtr suposeldy comp for 997 turbo so they need all the hp they can get. besides for a min of 65k NISSAN (infiniti i can see low balling pple with an over hyped for the price car) they better be packing at least 400hp... otherwise its asking for poor reviews and sales.

^last time i checked it was vq37xxtt (i always forget what that new 350z engine suffix is... doh!)should be impressive, i doubt that it wont be faster than a 350z aftermarket tt (just tt kit with mild engine upgrades to run it efficiently).I mean look at it: GTR everyone thinks it is the newskyline and its got the tail lights... so i dont think they would put that kind of reputation on the line especially world wide for sports car level performance...but at the same time its GTR, NOT skyline...but again gtr is the premire version of the skyline so why would they risk the name?tricky to tell... but i have to say although the headlights are abit iffy, the body looks really nice, and i cant wait to see a topsecret body kit come out

Last I heard it was going to be a VR38 in the GT-R. The VQ37 is in the G37 and a VQ38 will probably be in the next Z.

just telling you what the buzz is on this end. Ultimately I don't care anyway, they can stick that abomination where the sun don't shine no matter what is under the hood.

Im sure that there will be many pple here that will get it and they will sell out fast, but the big thing about it coming to the us is that more common man could get it, but ill bet it will still fall into the hands of the rich... ****ing america...

Nothing wrong with those who can afford it to actually buy the car. I don't hate those who have high-end vehicles, instead I try to find out how they were able to afford it and concentrate my work and financial efforts to allow me the opportunity to purchase what I want when I want. It's not Americas fault as America allows you to get as far ahead as you want in life. All it takes is the effort and to make appropriate decisions.

Well im all for pple who earn their own money, i always encourage it!But they arent the ones who will buy the gtr. Its the kids like nick hogan who get their lucky hands on one and dont even appreciate it. The rich pple also might only buy it because it is gonna be somewhat rare, and they wont drive it... they will baby it and let it sit... in a garage... If you dont belive me go look at a 1995 911. It had 40k miles on it, and the dealer said the guy drove the hell outa it. WTF! They are the same pple that will buy the GTR because of its price...Well if you get one, send me millions of pics!

Lol, its a car designed first and foremost for the Japanese market. It really isn't that surprising if they did only decide to import them in a low volume scheme.

There's a lot of car companies that make the same statements. One of two things happens, there really arent enough and they add 20 plus thousand to the price or there are enough and they end up sitting on the car's because the demand isnt actually there. In this case I think it will be the first outcome. Wait a year for the bugs to be worked out and buy one at the actual price.

Everything I have read in press releases say 1500 units. The price has been guessed but never disclosed. The rumors are between $70K-$85K, but I would not be surprised if they sell for much more. There has been a buzz about this car now for two+ years and people will pay top dollar if they can afford it. It sucks for those of us who do not have 6 or 7 digit incomes, but it is life.

this is very true take the evo for example, mitsu starved the market and then it blew up. Lets just hope plenty of them make it here so we can all own used ones later on in life. lol
