What brand of tension rod/slotted rotors should I get?

So, I have like... broken tension rods on both sides and slightly warped rotors in the front.

Thus, I'm thinking of getting pillowball tension rods and slotted/drilled rotors.

How good are the slotted/drilled rotors for longevity of brake pads? How often would I have to change the pads if I got them compared to "normal" rotors?

What brand is good? Brembo?

What brand of tension rods are good? I've seen tein and kazama. Does anyone have any other suggestions? How much should I be looking to spend?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

For rotors i would recommend slotted not drilled and slotted. I have an uncle that ran drilled and slotted used to run them on his track m3 car and didnt like them because the brake hake less contact with the rotor and braking was effected slightly. Although many race teams run them no-problem and they have put a lot of reasearch into it but it depends on the application also. If ur car is just for the street you can do crossed drilled and slotted though but I would get slotted IMO.

Thanks for the response, and I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'm not set on getting either slotted or drilled and slotted yet, so I'll keep reading.

Do you have any recommendations to any particular brands?

I would say your best bet is brembo, tested and proven and a very reputable brand

Yeah, Cross drilled/slotted are fine if you have large diameter rotors and upgraded calipars and larger pad area..

But your braking force will actually decrease vs solid rotors ..The primary benefit of cross drilled/slotted is Heat dissipation, allowing you to brake longer for extended periods at the cost of actual braking force.

So yeah..slotted is a great compromise if you go with some nice soft pads.

Thanks for being so quick! I deleted my post when I was lookign through the sponsors b/c I couldn't find SPL on google.

I've decided on SPL Tension rods (do they come in pairs?) and blank rotors.

Again, like I posted on Zilvia, Peak or SPL. Peak performance has awesome arms. Here are mine installed on my Z32. So far 6 months and one track day, along with several canyons runs, and still perfect.

I have them on my car too and love them!! Pillow ball tension rods make huge difference. When you test drive your car after you put them on, just take hard turns and brake hard. You will know what I'm talking about. Front end is controlled and stiff.

Yes, Peak Performance makes good stuff too. I have the Peak Performance RUCAs bought from EnjukuRacing. They were recommended by the guys there. Though, comparing the two, I don't think their front tension rods are as beefy as the SPLs.

If you're not going to track your car regularly then solid rotors are fine. Brembo is good. Slotted/crossdrilled rotors (along with the pros and cons mentioned by others) tend to eat your pads faster. How much faster depends on usage.

If you decide to go less baller on the tc rods, let me know, I have a perfectly good set of OEM rods with whiteline bushings pressed in that I'm trying to get rid of.

if your still on stock diameter brakes anyway i wouldnt go drilled for sure. I had drilled rotors on my audi, i hated them.

Autozone blanks and some good pads on my integra were really great and saved money. Axxis Ultimate pads. I'll probably go that route again. First time I used them on the highway I almost bit my steering wheel.

I was just talking about those in my yashio factory item thread.

I am looking at getting the SPL ones, but also considered the peak performance stuff/ikeya stuff was asking questions. That sure does seem beefy heh.. but you say its not as beefy a SPL? Wow.. any pix of the SPL ones installed, im for sure going with SPL on those arms.

One thing I want really badly now is SPL z32 type pro inner/outertie rods... I feel like making a petition thread with all the people that want to get them just so they restart production on them im getting unpatient

Anyone got SPL v2 tension rods installed pix to compare?

I am still going with SPL ones, just kind of curious on these though

The slotted rotors also deglaze the brake pads for a better consistant grip. I am personally running the stoptech oem replacements and am very satisified them. Slotted rotors, ss lines, and hawk pads. my 2 cents.

And on a side note, my friend is running kazama tension rods on his s13 and loves them. Alright I'm done

i think spl is the thickest there is, 32mm. kazama, peak, spl, you'll get the same effect. it comes down to price when you're choosing amongst them
