Danny,
I am looking to buy a 2007 G35 6MT Coupe at the dealership in Cincinnati. I was wondering if there was anything I should know as far as tips and tricks to get the price lowered. The dealer already told me that there was a price break on the car now since the G37's are coming out but he also said it will drop some more. There is also 1.9% financing. The problem is I don't want the car to sell before I get a chance to get my hands on it. The black/black one that was there last weekend is already gone, and there are a couple more there that I would like. Any ideas on how to reserve the car but still be able to negotiate a price? Let me know, also any other negotiations that you can think of would be great.

I have contacted a few dealers, my interest is in purchasing an 07 g35 sedan. I have received a reply with an offer at invoice plus dealers processing ($500.00). I was considering a countering offer for same cost and having the dealership adding tint, and clear bra. Or having the dealer waive the processing fee?
Is this a asking too much?
I would like to get this completed before the 2.9/3.9 finacing is over (31 Nov).

I am in Canada so no one may know the answer here but here goes:
retail for the 2008 G35X AWD with premium package would be $43,540.
Invoice according to carcost canada is $40,399, and there is a manufacturer's rebate of $3000. Nothing else listed I assume there is some holdback.
So far, I offered preliminary and agreed somewhat is $37,399 which is invoice minus rebate + 2%. $748. Then add on freight here which is expensive at 1650 and the premium package at invoice at 2,309.
Is anyone here familiar with canadian market and can venture a guess as to what the hold back could be and if I should even bother offering invoice. OF coz I have already started working on them and telling them the price isnt quite there etc, but I just wanted to opinions before I do some final negotiation.

The best advice I can give you is to negotiate price first. If you want a lower payment, a dealer can try and extend the loan term. But if you should decide to sell it before the loan is up, or if the vehicle gets totalled and you owe more than the value of the car, you may be the one holding the short end of the stick. When buying a car, it is always iportant to know what a fair price for the car is. If the dealer tries to talk about payments, address it and be clear you want to talk about price. If he doesn't concede, walk away. Keep the talks on your terms. Always. Dealers want to control the negotiations, but they will not sacrifice a sale for it.
If you are not comfortable with confronting dealers, use the internet. Look-up your local dealer's website and submit a quote request. Typically the fleet staff will respond and in my experience, they tend to be easier to work with. Get several quotes for the same car and use them against each other. Make them compete for your business. When you have the lowest price you think you can get and are happy with it, apply for a loan with your local bank or credit union. Maybe use a service like Lending Tree to get you several loan quotes. Then go in to the dealer and negotiate the financing terms. Having other quotes will let you know where you stand and if they can't beat the deal, you have a fall back plan if you are ok with the terms of the loans you were already approved for.
Lastly, before you do anything, write down your guidelines. What you want to pay and what you are willing to pay. If you can't get the deal you wrote down, walk away. And don't jump at it the moment they give it to you. Keep pushing. Perhaps even plan to walk away even if you get the price you want. They may drop a better deal on the table to keep you there. Ultimately, you can always go back and they will likely honor the last offer they gave you...

What's with the pricing in this thread? I saw in another thread that you can get an 2008 G35 for 1.3% under invoice. Is that not correct? (If Infiniti dealers get 1% holdback, plus 2% marketing they still make enough profit, correct?

I'm looking at buying a used 2007 GTI. The car was advertised with a price and indicated that it is "VW Certified" (Preloved or Preowned). When it comes time to talk price the salesman says if I want the "VW Certified" it will cost me an additional $1850 on top of the advertised price. Is this typical or are they yanking my chain? Also they want to charge me $500 for delivery charges...is this something typical when buying a used car?
