I had these wheels powdercoated in oct. I didn't post pics because i was so embarassed about the colour they turned out. This was not the colour i chose on the sample. Lesson learned, do not pay someone to powdercoat your wheels. Do them youself. You will save money and if the tire people fack your wheel finish when they mount your tires, you can easily fix it.

Enough foreplay, time for pics:

Old colour UGLY:

Note the tire mounting damage.

sanded down, 3 hrs of prep work.

BRONZE:

I really should have dusted them off before taking pics. They have been sitting in the basement for a few days.

Nice when sun hits them.

At first I liked how they were first, then I decided that Bananaish Yellow was actually not that good lookin', lol.

I do like the Bronze now, good choice to redo.

What color is your 240 that these are goin' on again?

ya that is really well done. Great job, I might just have to do the same shortly.Shame that tire shop doesn't know how to mount stock alloys . Whoever did that must have been a total newb.

I used dupli-color "high performance" wheel paint + their clear coat.

It also comes in silver and graphite.

Thanks for the compliments.

HAHAHA, That makes 2 of us that are Dislexic <-spelling?

O.P., I like the bronze better. The old ones look like someone peed on your rims.

They were kinda Tonka yellowish, but darker. They were to "ghetto fabulous" for me. Thay were actually supposed to be a bronze candy.

I'm thining of doing my Work equip's in this color.

Actually I just got it and the guy who had it before me did it. Not sure what paint was used. I have a few pics in my thread here:zerothread?id=255035

I'm already thinking about stripping them and doing a time attack (black w/red lip) paint scheme. I don't know though.

Around here it is $75-90 a wheel. That is what it cost me to get that ****ty yellow color. Don't waste your money. Do it yourself. If you have any questions i will answer them for you.

Yeah, i'm pretty happy with the results. I spent $25 and 6 hrs. The finish seems very durable, but we will see what they look like after a canadian winter.

Yeah whats what I was wondering about. I was thinking of powdering mine or painting them as my snow tire wheels. Would the paint hold up to the salt and snow?

dang... this threads like 2 years old.

iirc, Sip doesn't even have his 240 anymore.

btw, another helpful tip for removing old paint for prep:

works wonders... just spray it on, wait like 15 minutes, then just hose the paint off

Just hose it off? That is very uncalifornian of you. The proper way to do this would be to collect the runoff and dispose of it as local law allows. Just like when you use brake clean........

........

....right?
