Alot, you might want to look into replacing all your fluids, all your filters, install a timing kit, new water pump, and thats just scratching the surface, I dont reccomend heavily boosting a 140k mile motor, possibly a stock rebuild before hand?

What problems? What you listed actually has less miles than a good amount of the 240's turbo'd right here on nicoclub... just read around.

If your car is running decently, do a compression check, etc. You'll be fine.

Read before posting please.

ever tried clicking the "SEARCH" button up top?

SEARCH is your friend. We're just here to harass you.

Seriously though, if you don't know the basics, which you clearly don't, do not turbo your car, you're gonna end up w/ a blown car on the side of the road somewhere.

Read all the stickies on the forums, search on here & google, etc. The stickies outline a good amount of EXACTLY what you've asked and give you a very good starting place.

Go to KA24et/KA24det forum, about the 2nd or 3rd link there is a "What can my 240sx handle in stock form (NEWBS READ)" sticky... that's there for you.

Way to tell him QV!

I suggest to the OP you get it back to stock condition, cuz I'm guessing its not. Start off with little mods (maybe w/ suspension) and go from there. Don't half a$$ ur turbo setup on the KA when ur ready to do it.

Quit being @s$holes...

Either tell the kid what he needs to know, link him to the info or STFU. The fact of the matter is that you guys can't answer the questions so you respond with whatever generic BS answer you can come up with to raise your own post count. Go back to Gen Chat and stay out of the tech forums unless you intend on actually contributing to Nico as a whole.

To the OP, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Everyone is a noob at something when they start off. I wasn't the TOTAL genius you see before you today...lol.

Seriously, the only thing you NEED to do is the exact same thing you'd do if you wanted to drive it naturally aspirated for another 30,000 miles.

People are under some sort of spell if you will, that a turbo destroys motors. "Boost that kills"...laughable at best.

What does a turbo do? It increases cylinder pressure. What does it require to increase cylinder pressure? More fuel and possibly ignition retard depending on the amount of boost you intend on running.

So look at it in the terms of making any motor run well. The cooling system needs to be on par, the oil system needs to be on par and all of the minor things, plugs, wires fluids etc need to be changed out to get the best long lasting performance you can expect from a motor without delving into the block and swapping internal parts.

Come by KAT, I'll answer any specific questions you have. We don't eat our own here at Nico.

Is it that time of the month? I think the problem people have is the complete lack of searching and using the resources that Nico has as a whole. You have not said anything in this post that hasn't been answered in the dozens of other "just got my car, what do I do threads" If people continue to refuse to use the search button, then that is their choice. Maybe they should restructure the forums so people pose questions directly to you, and then you post the question and the response. All I did was poke a little fun, sorry if I offended you WD.

edit: I didn't realize this was in the tech forum because I just clicked the "Active Topics" link.

What you wrote could have been found by reading your sticky... which he was told to do in both my posts...

Look @ your own sig WD... that's all we told him to do.

Why didn't I link him directly? Because I knew where the information could be found but I didn't have the link off hand & it's not hard at all to find if he just did a couple clicks...

Shoot, I'm still a noob on most of this stuff, but at least I know how to click around for 20 seconds before asking a question - dumb or not...

Exactly...I wouldn't have said anything if he posted a generic question in Gen Chat. The best answer you could have given would have been to look in KAT.

The main point is this, we look to encourage new members. You're already an active member so I gain nothing by watching a noob catch crap for making a repost. Internet forums will have reposts FOREVER. It's the nature of the beast. It's up to the staff to move/lock/delete/edit anything that doesn't belong. It's far easier to say nothing at all then it to hit reply, type out some garbage and then hit send. Do people not search enough...you bet ya.

No it's not that time of the month...but thanks for asking

You could have just referenced him to KAT.

This isn't anything personal against either of you two. But what I'm going to say next is pure fact and you need to think about it before you reply. Once one member starts telling someone to search, or flames someone for what they feel is a stupid question or repost, almost every reply after is basically the same. The OP becomes the brunt of every one's post whoring...you guys know exactly what I'm talking about, you've been here long enough. If I had said nothing, it would have gone on the same way. With the end result being a curious individual leaving Nico and not coming back.

Now he sees that Nico welcomes questions as retarded as they may seem. If they get bad, we move/delete them. But that's our job.

This is a tech forum, I don't go to Gen Chat because I end up wanting to choke people. So I hang in the more tech related forums where I do my best to keep everything on track. For the record, I was linked here by another member who thought I could assist this guy. Why should I have to help him out when you guys could have said the same exact thing.

Also, there aren't that many clear cut concise threads about turboing a high mileage motor. You won't find one on the first pg of KAT.

I have an open door policy. If I can help somebody I will, it makes me feel a lot better to help someone then it does cut them down. But that's just me...

Sorry if I came across as a total d!ck, it wasn't my intent.

alright kid, best thing I can tell you, Is, Personaly, I wouldnt turbo a ka with 140k, Granted thats not a whole lot of miles, but I would try and rebuild it first. You dont want to run alot of boost on a high mile motor. Second. I agree, do some suspension work first. Tires and rims(The wider the better!!) stuff like that. You dont want to go into KA-T without knowing anything about your car. Hence the rebuild statement. You will get a better understanding for your car with that. Dont try and do it yourself unless you have a good manual for that. Also make sure that your engine plan is completely set. Dont forget anything, that just gets annoying. If your not sure what to do next. Please by all means if you cant find it under the blinking red SEARCH button up top. Please ask us, We will be more then happy to help you solve your problem Just make sure that you have your basics down before you do something like KA-T.

I think that you have your work set out for you with this one, Good Luck!

don't see why not turbo it at 140k lol. Might as well have fun before it blows. Just don't be like "omg, it blew up on me!" when it does happen after some over zealous mashing.
