Alright this is my deal, I've got a 1992 240sx hatch, one lady original owner, she kept up with updated tune ups, etc. As well as me replacing the fuel filter, air filter, oil, spark plugs. Well I have a couple of problems:

#1: There is absoulely no powerband so it struggles to gain any power after 3K rpms. Pretty much takes the longest to get anywhere after that.

#2: Found oil in #1 spark plug and #2 plug.

Anyone with ideas? I am not overheating or idling funny, the car runs perfect under idle and driving. LMK thanks.

Also can someone inform me the symptoms of a blown headgasket, thanks.

Do a distributor cap and rotor; possibly a coil and wires. then check the timing. I had the timing advanced slightly and the car srained to get to 50 mph. we stopped and retarded it again and the car picked back up. use a timing light or scan tool. we had the luxury of a scan tool.

would anyone think it would be the mass air flow or maybe perhaps a collasped catylic converter?

The Cat Converter has nothing to do with the problem.

I am sure that your Ignition timing is Off. I just Did my timing and that was it.

Timing is everything. I got a new Cat and O2 sensor. Smogged the car, and that was that.

Go to Sears, buy a Timing GUn ($40) bucks, Time the car...Place it back into the Box, and return it..get your money back.

=) Or heck, just buy a Timing GUn, it's Worth it.
