I'm working with two manufacturers to develop a tonneau cover for the 240sx.. Remember the covers that the old MGBs and TR 4's used... they'll fasten with snaps or zeus fastners, have bump outs for the headrests and steering wheel and a zipper down the middle for single seat driving, or fold back to hide the trash in the back seat...

It's the best answer for those who love the top down experience.. Not sure of the price, as it will depend on how many I can order.. planning on an initial run of 50, so if you are interested, let me know..

I'd be interested in a car cover that only covered the windshield and top (in the up position) anyone make anything like that?

Cut a reg car cover up, hee hee hee.

I'd just want one that'd cover the back seat to make it look more like a roadster. I like having passengers & also have custom seats so covering the passenger would not work exactly... and I have a roll bar, haha.

funny.

I'm not really sure what purpose a soft tonneau cover would serve. The fiberglass covers on old Dodges, etc. were cool because they made the car look like a proper 2-seater.

jspec.. like the Model T.. u can get it in what ever color you like as long as it's black... use simple snaps or upgrade to zeus fastners... Robbins sells MGB tonneaus for 250, would like to come in less than that... depends how many I can order..

Love the reference to the Model T. The color thing was merely out of curiosity. Black would most likely look best anyways. My thing is, I would not want visible snaps all over the car. The other thing is I am not sure what a zeus fastener is! lol I am gonna have to search on that one! I also like the idea of only a rear tonneau and or a fiberglass tonneau.

Agreed!!! I don't really care to cover up the front seating area.. I'll just put the top up for that.. But if they made a tonneau to cover up the 'vert top when down as well as the back seat.. I'd be all over that!!!

Well, I'm with Eikon, 4cedkoop and Ish. Those cover looks good on classic roadsters though. Maybe 1st gen Miata can handle it too, but not on 240.

again

not a fan of the "cover the whole car thing. it'd be so much easier to just put the top back up.

new cover for the top while down is a great idea though. demand for top cover > demand for interior cover.

in terms of style, if you like it, great. but in terms of trying to make money i don't think you should do this. you'd be lucky to break even. just my $.02

Actually I think the official name of the connectors are DZUS, everybody just calls them zeus fastners.. they use a quarter turn and lock in...

I think it would look good on the 240... cover up the useless backseat and give a much smoother look to the car... loved them on my old MGB.. Here in Houston where heat is a problem, it would keep the seats cool while you stop off for lunch or dinner, etc, w/o putting the top up.. and down and tearing up the stupid plastic window...

Would definately be a market for the boots, and I'd be down with boot + cover for rear seat.

The backseat isn't useless. I have my 3rd passenger sit sideways, and I also use it for moving stuff (with the top down, of course).

That's about the only way you can put a 3rd person in any 240 lol. I'm 6'3", there's not an inch of room when I drive for back seat people! lol I do like the idea of eliminating the rear seat area though. IMO the 240 vert and coupe should have been made as 2 passenger...oh well! Maybe once mine is on the finished end of the project I will try to come up with something...who knows.

agreed about the backseat.. I'm 6'2 and nobody can get in the back .. thought about removing the seat, adding a back for speaker panels and a storage area for adult beverages for the back seat.... hmmmm... then keep it covered with the tonneau cover..

When necessary things can be done. I had 6 adults in my coupe before (3 in rear with one laying across them) for a short distance. And I'm bigger than yall.

I've been working on a "parade boot" (hard tonneau that will cover back seat and top).

Wish I had more time...

Salleen makes one for the mustang that is really nice... they too have the useless back seat.. Porsche speedsters also had one, but it liked like a pregnant turtle shell ..
