So I have an "01 Maxima and feel like I was gypped on the HID lighting. So I contacted one of our advertisers, Co Way HID and bought a set. The price is really reasonable, $189. and they paid the shipping. If you compare that to others, and Nissan Factory prices, this is a great deal. So here is the install, and pics. I don’t use my high beams at all, so I only bought the single beam kit. However if you do use your highbeams, they also have a bixenon kit, that will suit yiour needs perfectly.

Find a place to put the ballast. This is the hardest part, because Nissan didn't leave any extra space under the hood. I put mine between the blinker and radiator reservoir on the passengers side. I connected it to where the airbox used to be on the drivers side.

Next, take the plug off the bulb. Remove the rubber water seal and halogen bulb.

Now follow the instructions, and plug them in. There is only one way you can plug them in. It has been engineered so you can’t screw it up. Make sure to secure any extra lengths of wire you have, so they aren’t sticking out.

Now, The moment of truth…

BEFORE

AFTER!!!

As you can see, there is an incredible difference. These are some VERY bright lights. I was most impressed about the ease of installation. The customer service is great, and I am really glad they are one of our sponsors/advertisers.

That's because they were/are YELLOW, but since you're 1/2 blind, it must affect your color perception as well. Rice...pfffft.

Matt's just jealous, because he is getting frail in his old age, and has to wait for warmer weather to change out his bulbs. Eventually summer will come, and his car will lose the yellow lights, and he'll be in the "cool club". Just messin' with ya Matt!

I'll just keep my yellow 4500k bulbs in for a bit. Temps in the teens means my thin blood can freeze.

On a related topic, does anyone know where the ballasts are located on Maximas/I30s/I35s that have factory HIDs?

I believe they are mounted on the actual headlight housing itself.

Any way to mount the aftermarket ballasts there without pulling the whole headlight assembly?

No, you would have to pull the whole assembly. Not too hard, but not worth it to me. I also don't know if there is room for the ballast under our headlights, since our cars didn't come with HID's, the bumper's internal foam might not have a cut out for the ballast.

30000k? WTF is that, a black light?

I just put my 6000k's in. They are def more blue than the factory 4300-4500k bulbs. Unfortunately, while I can distinguish the difference during the day, my camera can't. I'll try and get some night pix....

Foglight install will have to wait until it warms up a bit. Sub freezing does not make a happy me.

30000k is borderline ultraviolet. so purple, it is starting to get into the shades that are not visible by the human eye.

BTW, it's about time you got rid of those stock yellow lights.
