I am looking into getting a 98 I30 for about 6k. Are these good cars or do they have a lot of problems?

They're great cars. They can also be modified with most Maxima upgrades since they share the VQ engine and A-class platform.

I just bouught a 99 I30 and after 3000 miles, it seems to be running great. I love the creature comforts that come with it and wish I had upgraded to one of these entry level high end vehicles a long time ago. Buyinng one used is the way to go though. My opinion is that these cars are well maintained and usually not junked up and when I checked with my mechanic. he said they can go to 250k easy if you take care of them. Good luck.

Yes. The only difference is a few body panels and the interior clock.

Not to mention the body... duh... A32 on a maxima and something a bit different on the I30 and you can't forget that the I30 looks a lot more lux and the maxima which looks a lot more sporty.

A32 is the platform, not the body. Both the Maxima and I30 are considered A32s from 96-99.

Honestly I think you should just get a Maxima GLE if you want a Lux maxima. I mean really The Maxima still looks better and all your buying with Infinti is the name and a little bit higher marked up parts that are really Nissan parts.

I do agree that the Max is better looking, but you get a bit more with the I than just the Infiniti name, like Infiniti customer service (which is among the best out there).

I ended up getting a Acura Legend from an auction lol

They had 2 clean Inifitis 2 I30's and 1 J30. I liked them both but the Acura was UBER clean. Should sell nicely too
