Just wanted to get some feedback about this camera, I was told it was the oem camera for my M, and installing it should be simple. Any idea how I could install this? Are the wires already there, just plug and play?

Looks like the OEM camera. I have the shop manual if you need it.

Contact Joe Tsensky at http://www.everythinginfiniti.com for the best OEM prices.

Full Service Manual can be downloaded for $20 (for the one-day access charge) from http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/infiniti. The service manuals are copyrighted and this is the official source to download the PDF files ... remember to get all of the files (please use a reasonably high-speed Internet access!) and get the TSB's too.

Radigan,

I have the 2007 M35, Journey package only (i.e., no backup camera). Are you in the same boat as I am? I wanted to find out if the wiring already exists for a vehicle that doesn't come with the backup-camera installed. For 2006, I believe the camera was included for the Journey package, but for 2007, it comes with the Navigation package, not the Journey.

Did you also have to update the console software for the camera integration? Let me know how your back-up camera installation worked out.

Well, I see alot has taken place on this forum as I haven't been on here in a long time. So my car was the base model, no packages whatsover. I wanted to add the backup camera and stock nav. I have successfully added the stock navigation to it, despite all the dealers I've called telling it mt couldnt be done. It was really simply actually and it works like a charm. No about the camera, I have not yet found evidence that it could work in base models, but I am optimistic. I have the OEM camera AND the camera control module, which is important. My trunk doesnt have the cutout for the camera, so I have to buy a trunk that already has the cutout. I have not been able to disassemble my trunk to find the necessary wiring because I have a custom audio setup in my trunk. I am still working on getting the camera set up but its taking some time. Will keep you all posted.

Hey Radigan,You said adding nav to a pure base model was simple...I'm in the same boat that you were with the 2006 base, no packages. Can you tell me how you did it?Thanks,CW

Theres a writeup on how to remove the different areas of the dash, I think its on this forum somewhere, and also theres one on forum here: showthread.php?t=189553 The only parts needed to be changed are:bluetooth module with DVDcontrol cluster[with all the buttons]GPS antenna with HRS GT5-1S connector [eBay for about $20]nav screen[optional]NAV disc[ ebay also, version 6.x - latest]basically once you have everything disassembled, its just a matter of swapping out the existing parts with the new ones. All the connectors are the same. you have no idea how satisfied I was when I did this myself. Ebay has a listing for all of the above except for $799, except the nav disc and antenna, I think its well worth it.

I have an 06 m35 with nav from the factory but no back up camera , so im trying to add it. I manage an auto shop so i have access to a lot of technical data but im not sure if adding this camera will work

If the car doesnt come with the camera stock then it is NOT prewired for it. It would be easier and cheaper to cut out the notch for the factory camera than it would to buy a new trunk lid. My trunk panels are all disassembled right now and im looking for how this can be added. I found an oe camera and module but im having trouble identifying how to add it to the factory wiring.

I have a couple of positive thoughts:

1. The body control module doesnt differentiate between with or without back up camera. So , it should be the same bcm

2. The lines that show your projected path when backing up are controlled by the steering wheel position sensor and it seems they included that sensor in all steering columns

3. when adjusting options on the dash screen there are missing options in some menus. Example: the index will say 1/7 and when you scroll down you only reach 6/7. So what option would 7/7 be? The software may be ready for the option

4. the harness connector coming from the BCM into the trunk lid has 4 wires more going in than it does coming out. The camera has 4 wires

Sooooo , has anybody successfully added the camera yet or have any other thoughts to add?

So I finally got around to make an attempt at installing the factory camera. When I added the factory nav, I was surprised it was so easy to do, even tho my M35 was a base model. When it comes to the camera however, I've run into a few roadblocks:

1. The cutout for the camera is not on my trunk lid. It is extremely difficult to cut the lid. Your options would be to get a trunk lid finisher only, with the camera cutout, you do not necessarily have to change the entire trunk.

2. Since I have the base model, there are no wires that I saw that can plug into the CCM. There are wires already prewired, but not for the camera. I ripped apart my trunk trying to find the connector but its not there. There are tons of other wires already present that's not being used, probably for the audio, or other features but none for the camera.

So right now I have the camera and control module, but not a way to make it work. When I ask the dealers if they have the wiring harness for the camera they have no idea what I'm talking about. I really dont know where to go from here. The only other option is finding a junk M with the camera and get the entire setup, meaning to get the camera and follow every wire from the camera all the way up to the dash because thats all that is missing. I am not sure what this harness is called or where it plugs into at the dash but that is all I am missing here.

This is all very frustrating.

It definitely seems like a massive job to add the camera as a factory option. Im waiting to hear back from somebody who claims he knows of an aftermarket controller and camera that will work with the oe display

If you need any wire diagrams , let me know

pardon me guys.....but instead of being rocket scientists and trying to go through the hassel of adding a factory backup camera, why not just install an LCD rear view mirror that acts as Bluetooth, backup camera, navigation, TV, etc etc. ?

thats what i wud do.....

something like this.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/REARVIEW-M...36b1a

or this....

http://cgi.ebay.com/7-Car-Rear...fe29b

or this....

I've seen the option , but for me , it's like adding spinning hub caps. I just think its wrong to put something like that in a car this classy.

There are other options , like adding an aftermarket display in a custom location (in place of sunglass holder) that can direct connect to a camera and reverse signal but i think the cleanest way to go about it is to make it as close to o.e. as possible

The guy called me back and said a module is available , im gonna have him do the job for $750 which includes parts and labor. After he's done it , i'll trace his work and let you guys know what the module is , that way you can try to do it yourself

This is an aftermarket interface that works with the m35 , you can add almost any aftermarket camera to it. You will need to hardwire it at the back of the oe screen. Its the RGB2+ , they have one thats $50 more thats plug and play also
