Welcome to NICO and 240sxConvertible.com maly!

Glad you found us.

To my knowledge, you cannot get a window only that is made specifically for our cars. You can buy the whole top including a window through a few different places... but i've not seen the window itself.

What most people have done in the past is track down some marine vinyl. It's nice and thick solid vinyl that is quite clear and will work perfectly. I would check with some local boat shops and ask them where you can get marine vinyl. Then cut it and fit it yourself.

Let us know if you have anymore questions... hopefully next time there will be a good answer for you..

Let's see some pictures of your new 'vert!!!

Also.. check out the stickies at the top of the forum. You will find tons of great info in there. Add yourself to the registry as well!

I'm pretty sure that the rear window segment can be purchased and installed separately. When I had my new top installed the window was fine so they reused it. I think it's a separate peice. Try contacting a place that does tops, upholstery, boats, etc. and get a quote first. I think the window peice was about $150.

find a place that specializes in automotive upholstery (or marine) and have them look at it. most professionals can get you a piece of that stuff and replace it for you for around $100-175. it's a very good investment and tremendously improves the look of your car when you don't have all that tape in the rear.

the window can be removed and replaced without messing with the top much. so i know it's not a full 1-piece top.

i wouldn't suggest doing it yourself unless you've got experience with upholstery.

FYI: Just found this while searching on ebay.

http://www.topsonline.com/

Go under products > Convertible Tops & Accessories > Nissan > Convertible Tops

Then under the drop down they sell just the rear window for $139.

Just the top is $209 and both are $329

My vert has the original top and a replacement rear window. The previous owner said the window was $200 installed.

~$150 seems to be the going rate for just the replacement window part (I researched it last year when I barely missed a mint white vert for $1k that had a cut rear window) Marine vinyl is probably cheaper, but would probably be more labor intensive to get it cut and fitted right.

I will report how it goes, mine is nasty, top is ok so this might be just the trick.

Definately give an update on the install, I could use just the rear window, but can't afford to pay anyone to install it and haven't seen any writeups on just the windown instal.

I used .020 marine vinyl ( I think the factory piece is .040 inch thick.) I got a roll of it, enough for 5 windows, for like $30. I had to do it twice, but the second attempt came out perfect. The trick is to overlay the original on the new vinyl, cut it to size, and use a sharpie (or whatever) to mark the original sewing marks to the new piece, and make sure you sew it in the exact same place. If you sew it just 1/8 inch off or so, you'll get wrinkles.

Its been a year now and it still looks perfect. Taking out the rear window piece really isnt difficult, it is time consuming, but not difficult. Lots of staples to reinstall it. If you use marine vinyl, make sure it has UV protection otherwise your rear seat fabric will deteriorate in the sun.

It's just a roll of clear plastic, nice thickness, and some glue with good instructions on how to do it but no 240 specific stuff.

Since my window cracked so much last week, it is now cut out and I will have to do some thinking since the old plastic was really brittle and gluing the new plastic to the old will not work.

I will probably end up pulling the window part out and try stitching or stapling the new plastic in rather than glueing it since I have nothing to glue to.

if you order the top top topsonline it comes with the canvas around it and no stitching is required, just a high power staple gun, bout an hour if you familar with the car and prob bout 2 if never done before. i did try the marine vinyl approach on my friends car before and it works out nice if you have the time, it was extremely time consuming though and needs to be near perfect, saves alot of money though

Anyone heard about TPU Urethane by BMW?

http://www.premierupholstery.c...w.php

"When we sew in new windows we have two plastic options. For years rear windows were made from 40-gauge PVC-based plastic. This plastic scratches and browns most easily. Fortunately, a new plastic, TPU Urethane (TPU), recently became available. TPU was developed in Switzerland by BMW for use in the convertible tops of their high-priced Z8 Roadsters. TPU plastic is more expensive, but vastly more resistant to scratching and discoloration than regular plastic. These windows are not made with PVC and do not have problems with plasticizers leaching out of the plastic. With proper care they last much longer than standard plastic windows." - by http://www.premierupholstery.com
