I'll spare you the story....

Get a piece of metal about 14" long x 12" wide (you could go smaller some in both directions but we are trying to block radiant heat so...)

now get out a sharpie or eyeball it like I did , mark 2.5" in from the end. From that mark go another 2.75" and mark as well.

Now take the sheet of metal over to a solid flat edge. Go to your first mark, bend it 90* on the edge. Now get the second marks lined up and bend it the other way 45*. l_ \

/\ thats what it shouls look like(roughly)

Get out a drill/bit and something to trim the shield with(snips work good).

Now use the sharpie to mark your mounting holes, use the drill to drill em out, slot them to give yourself adjustment. Also a hole will need to be drilled at the back of your sheild to strap it to the ac line with a ziptie.

Go down to were the o2 is on the manifold and cut out a notch so it wont hit the sensor or wire. While cutting trim the edges some so you dont go cutting yourself in the future. Also trim around ac line at frame rail, and bottom back corner so it too clears the ac line.

Mount it. I would at this point advise you to cut some rubber hose open to protect edges that may contact things that can be cut.

good luck with your heat shield guys

confused.... why did you need that? Most people get heat shields for turbo motors.

well simply because I will be going turbo also if you didnt notice I dont have a heat shield on my manifold,I f'd it up getting it off. Once turbo it will be needed more so then at the moment.

I will probably never do good write ups I am too impatient to take a pic when I'm working

but it was under 5 dollars and took about 5 minutes+getting the camera out and taking a few shots

Would a pic of it off the car help?

My heat shield is the metal, with cutout for the 02 sensor. And is 90 bent over downpipe and turbo and then 90 bend again against the block. It's pretty big and doesn't move in the 10k miles that I've had. Cost me less than a buck..

Yeah guys I dont need it but,it may come in handy later on. Like I'm trying to get out to gainesville next month and after a few HARD laps I'm sure without the stock heatshield my fluid will be hurting(performance wise). SHYT give me a few more minutes on the pics(pc being a piece).

nvrplzd yeah man its a good cover that fits very well, hell it would be better to have that on the res then nothing, might block a lil radiant heat.

BIGT I say go for it,better yet go out and get her warmed up with some hard runs, then stick your forearm to the lines then you'll be going to find something. I am honestly shocked no one has made and tried to sell this, kinda like the rad cooling panel deal,I mean shyt they charge over 100 for those and its about the same kinda work.

Florida is yours mounted to the turbo? Mines mounted to the strut tower( IIRC were the IAV used to be),its also has one ziptie holding it to the ac line, but could have went another inch and mounted to firewall.

here you go

hope this clears up some confusion you know I'm

easier solution, slightly more though. Megan Racing heat shield.

One of the few megan racing products i'd use.

my friend I never pay 50 dollars for a sheet of metal that I can make myself for less then 5 dollars and under 5 minutes. I dont have cash to throw at my car like some do, If it can be made at home I can try damn it, I have a cooling panel made from metal and one I custom formed out of fiberglass. I would rather spend the money trying to attempt making some parts rather then buy them.

Dont get me wrong some stuuf you cannot make but if its stuff like this call me if I cant get it I call mike jones he can help and we'll get it done. NO not the rapper or the midway parts guy

the heat either way will make the fluid hot and insuficient plus the heat if hot enough can deform or melt the plastic canister. the heat all together is bad nomater turbo on not.

I would give you my old one if you lived close.

I can give you a simple yet somewhat effective solution.

carboard I know its but long as it doesnt rain too bad your ok.this will come in handy if you are gonna make a metal version as cardboard is much easier to manipulate. I went with fiberglass tho... was a little more time consuming and rewarding IMHO, granted it will never win a medal for looks but the function is all I care about. Look at my car, you think wtf why no sides/rear? well frankly it serves little purpose were as the front lets more air into the engine bay,and actually lets SOME into the brakes, more function crap...who knows this might be the safety net before hitting a .....Glad some like it and others dont get it.
