i have a 91 maxima gxe with 179,000 miles and im getting maybe 15 miles a gallon. Ive seen ppl say that they are getting up to 30 miles a gallon. Mostly all my parts are new on my car but what are some things that i can change to make my gas mileage better?

According to this, standard mileage is 20 city/26 highway. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/7936.shtml

Vehicles with a manual transmission usually get better mileage than those with automatics. Regular maintenance such as plugs, air filter, oil change, and proper tire inflation can all help your mileage.

Is it auto? If so slow down. If it's manual shift earlier.

On my SR it happens on the right side of the engine bay where the lines bend to go to the fuel rail/injectors.

On my car those lines happen to be rubber gauge hose. Tightening those didn't help my case, the lines themselves were brittle and rotten. I'd turn on the car and bend the line slightly every inch or so and see if any fuel squirts out.

do u have the vg30e engine because i cant even get to the hose without having to remove the intake manifold, the hose is not even a foot long i think but it is the one that goes into the fuel rail, so if i was gonna buy a new hose what would i ask the parts store for>?

Hahaha, welcome to the world of VG ownership. That's the most common area for fuel leaks with our engines.

For replacement parts, just ask for fuel tubing. Get a length a bit longer than you need and cut to fit.

Leaking exhaust will cause poor mileage.leaking fuel lines will cause the fuel smell, replace them with FUEL INJECTION line, not regular fuel hose.

No I have the SR20DET. Just say you need a fuel line for whatever car you have and they'll grab one. If you dunno what the gauge of the line is go to autozone and ask them. They'll be happy to tell you.

well i think the iacv is bad because i checked it according to the fsm, and it says that if the car starts with the gas pedal pushed all the way down then its bad, and my car did start so i think the iacv is bad. And also where do i check for a exhaust leak, i think there is one because i can smell gas evertime i get out of the car.

my car drives like a brand new car when its warmed up, it drives so good sometimes u cant even tell its on, so why does it shake & shutter only at the first start of the day?
