Had to redo my sump again, making it MK2.5. Needed extra clearance between the motor and crossmember to allow the angle of the engine/gearbox to be a better match to the diff angle. The z32 steering rack is mounted really high making things a pain in the bottom. Mind u I gained another 16mm approx in doing this making it well worthwhile. The buldge is now at the back and will be totally rehashing front so it doesnt hold too much oil, similar to the factory z32 one.

Hmmm......that long feed tube makes me think John Dixon's dry sump is a good alternative.

Nice work!

Cheers. That long feed tube is pretty much the norm in a lot of cars. Most engines either come out in front and rear sump configs depending on model of car engine is used. Anyhow I went up from the std just over 300mm2 to approx 350mm2 at the squashed places so to help with any restrictions. Sump holds approx 5 litres or just over and works mint.Dry sump is good if u have room under the engine bay and a fair bit of money that needs spending, or in a strict race setup. My car being a daily driver most days with the occasional strip and circuit use lends itself to keeping thing simple and reasonably priced. If oil pressure does surge I may go that way, however the last sump I made in my last transplant worked a treat!Anyhow here is the MK2'b' version. Now to fit this damn engine to the car!

Shouldnt do. Whatever pump u have normally has to draw from somewhere down there. If designed right it shouldnt pose a problem. If there is any prob with the vh lube system its that poxy std filter housing and small std oil filter which normally goes on it. Oil surge can be caused by a number of things, in my experience normally an unbaffled sump is the first culprit.
