As many of you may have found out, the warning chime can get quite annoying at times. If you're not going to miss it, here's my write-up on how to get rid of it. This shouldn't take anyone more than 10 minutes.

First, I'd recommend to disconnect the battery.

My dash happens to be out right now, but you only need to take off the driver's side kick panel. If you've never taken off the kick panel, visit http://www.jdmrice.com/tech/dash/dash.html for some very useful information. The location of the chime is circled in the picture, which should give you an idea of where to look for it once the panel is out.

Disconnect the circled connector.

Voila, no more chime sound!

You may choose to remove the chime for ultimate weight reduction. It is held on by one bolt, for which you will need a phillips head screwdriver, or a 10 mm socket.

Reinstall the kick panel, and enjoy the sound of silence.

I plan simply to replace my chime with one from a VW or something else that sounds cool.

Is this the chime when you have your keys in or the lights on on battery power? Hell No that thing has saved my a$$ numerous times from being locked out in below freezing weather.

I work at circuit city and install car audio and alarms. It took a little while but now I'm immune to the chime!! One time I was working on a guys car alarm and had the chime going for like 10 minutes and all of the sudden he came over to the car and pulled the key out. He looked at me and said "Man that sound is so f'ing annoying!" And I told him dude, can I have the key back? As soon as he gave it back to me I stuck it right back into the ignition and a fiendish smile stretched across my face. Then I told him that customers weren't allowed in the shop and to go on the other side of the chain.

I think that is only on JDM cars, mine has it.

I want to know if they are one and the same chime. If i leave the headlights on in my car there is a really annoying buzzing sound, not a ding ding ding sound. It is more like a continuous EEERRRRRRRRRR.

I wonder if we have different chime sounds JDM vs USDM. ANYONE?

LOL at Redevil

As for the chime, AFAIK, it comes with the JDM CA18DET clips. I dont think the SRs, KA, or RB wiring has this option. In the CA, its actually located on the cluster (the actual sensor).

I'd be pretty pissed too if sum customer went inside the shop that's a huge liability issue. I remember one time at Sear's I needed to get my tires rotated and i didn't feel like doing it at home, plus it was free, they told me that if I can just come the next day or if I wanted to wait 2 hrs. I was like aww man WTF? Can I just do it myself I know how to do it, the guy kind of remembers me bc I knew one of the techs there and he told me ehhhh alright just don't say anything. I should've just hurt myself on purpose, LOL.
