Maybe you guys will appreciate my new pics a little more than the 240 forum

'94 240 vert and a '94 cavalier Z24 (neighbors) the 240 would possibly be sold to someone offering a fair price

it is a really clean vert... except... is that a big dent in the driver-side rear quarter panel near the bumper cover and the tail light?

are they buying this car with air bags and abs? if not, tell them 1: you don't care, 2: you can't afford an s14, 3: air bags and abs aren't going to help you in any crash you'll ever get into because you'll probably be going way to fast to feel anything upon impact anyways, and 4: you don't want to sell your super cool, rare vert because it will help you get laid.

if they are buying you a new car, just sell your vert to me for a grand and i'll come pick it up.

i'm mostly kidding.

well since i all ready gave you 4, that means you only need six...

in all seriousness, i'm sure we can get you 10 good reasons in 24 hours or less, i'll start.

1 - it's probably one of the coolest convertible cars on the road.

2 - it's a rare car. they only converted about 3200 of the vehicles. (see the sticky with the faqs)

3 - you'll learn a lot of useful mechanical skills by working on the car yourself.

4 - you'll save yourself a lot of money by doing the work yourself instead of paying someone else to do it.

5 - because you do the work yourself, you'll appreciate the car more and take better care of it.

6 - your (insert family member here) is going to help you work on the car and you'll get to spend some quality time together.

7 - it keeps you from taking drugs, drinking alcohol, and having premarital sex.

8 - you don't want them to have to spend extra money on purchasing/insuring a newer vehicle.

9 - you'll let your parents borrow it when they go out on a date.

10 - your car handles just fine in the winter if you put some snow tires on the factory rims (which you'll do of course). (although, what you should do is buy a cheap fwd beater for the winter and put your vert into storage)

see, there's 10 reasons right there. i'm sure some of the other vert guys can come up with a few good ones.

doesnt work...noone in my family knows **** about these cars...and i only live with my mom..and she cant even change her battery..

9 - you'll let your parents borrow it when they go out on a date.

single mom thats almost 60 working two jobs....whats a date? haha

8 - you don't want them to have to spend extra money on purchasing/insuring a newer vehicle.

they wont spend it...i will...and she knows that...i pay for everything i get...car, gas, insurance, cell phone, internet, etc. etc. everything but food and rent thank god all the other ones are good though

if this is true, you only need one reason: because you want to.

if you're man enough to pay your own bills, you're man enough to make your own decisions. tell your mom you're thankful for her conscern, but if you're paying for everything except rent and food, you'll drive whatever the hell car you want.

ok, substitutions if you still want to play the 10 reasons game:

6 - you're stock ka24de will last well into the 200,000 mile reading on it's odometer (as long as you take good care of it with regular maintenance)

8 - YOU don't want to spend money on another car. obviously newer, safer, and more options = more money.

9 - you'll take your mom for drives in the mountains with the top down in the summer time to help her relax.

#11 - You're young, you should have a fun car that you can tell stories about to your grandkids when you're old.

#12 - You should be able to decide how your own money is spent.

sheesh...I'm a list whore, so I might as well add to this (hopefully, this is sound advice).

My reasons you should listen to her:

1. Being a parent myself, I wouldn't want my sons to have verts their first cars either. I mean, trusting my sons is one thing - trusting dooshbags on the road is another. Guys - a vert is not "Safer" by any means. It's the price we pay to pimp vs a comparable car (coupe/hatch).

2. It's your mom - I know it sucks, but even with paying all the bills (which I think is super cool of you)...mom will be mom dude. You only got 1 - make her happy. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE - you won't regret it.

My reasons you should keep the car:

1. Their are guys who just see sheet metal. Their are guys who go gaga over body design. Then their are REAL guys who see that, and beyond. Those of us in the "know" per say. Those of us who enjoy not only the thrill of an "automobile" - but is also interested in the culture & history behind the specific vehicle. Dude, you own a rare, rwd, drift-spec, battle tested, S chassis, one of a kind convertible. The S-chassis has been proven, time and time again - to be one of the most effective road monsters out there. Why the HELL would you even think of losing this??? lol. Second - keep in mind that RWD japanese cars are rare to begin with....the factor ALONE makes it awesome. Aside from the stock 4cyl, you got a "ready to tune" car. Not every pos that comes off the factory line can say that. The 240 does.

2. Try to sell her on the idea that you want to expand your engineering knowledge, to be more helpful around the house as well. Booksmarts is one thing (I got a techie degree btw), but working with your hands....I mean...it might be hard for you to understand today, but trust me on this one....working with your hands...something about it is oh so filling dude. Their is nothing like doing a real days work, sweat of the brow....etc. You know it. **** - you feel it (oh my damn back...)! Keep the car - and work on it whenever you can. Keep your nose still in books - but let the car be your outlet as well.

Dude - I come home every day from a desk job. Don't get me wrong - it's great and all, and of course I'd rather be sitting behind a desk than outside all day...but every weekend I'm either building something, or breaking something. I GOT TO. IT's just me, just the way I am - and I love it. Without that kind of outlet, I'd go nuts. Let your mom know that it's the same for you. Constructive stress management.

^^this guys my hero....but 1 problem...you guys all say like working on it on my own and all that...which is great and im willing to do...but its my only car...so i cant get tied up with not having a car for more than a few hours at a time

You could do what I did. If you really want it, insure it yourself and get it titled in your name.My parents wouldn't let me get a car I wanted but they couldn't say anything about somthing I bought, paid for and insured with my own money.

They were so mad when I sold my integra and bought a vert.Of course them not knowing always works. Man are they gonna be pissed if they find out I have a motorcycle too.

awesome.

wireless - that was like poetry (except for the "dude" that you through in every here and there)

wodan - there's plenty you can do without a lot of down-time. there's a lot of things that take a couple hours to not more than a weekend. intakes, exhuast, simple suspension upgrades, some exterior mods, stereo stuff, intererior customization, and of course basic maintanance are all simple things that don't involve a lot of downtime.

This is the stock spoiler that came with our verts. It's not that much, but flows well with coupe body line. Has a 3rd brake light too. Some peple remove it to have clean look, but I prefer mine on.
