hey, I've had my 240 for about a year now and have just been enjoying it. Now I'm a senior in HS and we have to do a projec so I figure WTH and work on my 240. So I saved up some funds and started ripping her apart in school. Yea our HS>you HS.. I have all the tools I'll need, press, alignment rack ect. Keep in mind I can only work abou 1.5 hours a day and thats M-F. The cars state right now is pretty beat, has rust, bad vavle seals leaking oil pan gasket, ect. I want to get it to facory then do a few coice mods. This is how I bought it for 1500 bucks, half a pin stripe, new wheels and some quarter panel rust.Orange peel on the front bumper, but I love this car.[IMG[/IMG]

Ill get some more pics up after work. Until then peace!

looks like its in fairly good condition, so what are you really planning to do at school? fixed the body or work on the motor? a good mod could possibly to lower the car maybe buy lsd for it.

1. check valve, adjust them if you need to.2. put new gaskets3. check your bushing, or possibly upgrade to polyurathane bushings4. ummmm.....basic Maintenance.

theres many things you can do, with your project what are you really suppose to do? just work on your car or what?

We'll i haven't started on the rear suspension yet but the rust.. well all i can say is damned salt states..

tools: basic tool set(to remove wheel, strut, ect), Grinders(rent, buy or borrow from rich friend ), Sanders, welder(borrow?), way to cut metal, undercoat, think thats it.

here it is before i even touched it,

first remove the wheel, remove the strut, unbolt the hard line to soft line holder thing.i then proceeded to get a medium sized hammer and smash out all of the lose metal, wear safety glasses..

I hooked up my little air grider with a 40 grit pad to break all the loose metal up.

ended up with this..

Then brought out the big guns, electric grinder, and let the sparks fly.

Sorry for the blurry pic, im wasn't taking it

but the goal is to get to good bare metal, go as far as you have to. and i now see that the hard line must come off, this was all wensday night. Thats as far as i got. Next steps would be remove hard line, cotinue grinding, make patch out of cardboard, transfer patch to metal, cut metal, tack weld for fitment, weld, undercoat, retap holes for hardline?, and enjoy.

and ps thats not even the bad rust... muwhahhaboth quarter panels

the trunk...and yes i can stick my fist through my car, and end up in the trunk..

Yeah, but can u weld it from the inner well or does it have to be by the engine?

I have access to everything but a welder.

Im to lazy to figure out the rear bushings by myself :p

depends on how secure u want ur patch, I personally would try to cover the hole from the outside, its not too bad of a hole and not too deep penertration. Personaly a patch that reconnects the body and frame would be secure. Its all up to you,if you'd like to patch the inside also.

reguarding your question about the pan, i recommend removing the crossmember to clean the pan and block really well for when you reseal it. when i half assed dropped my pan, there was no room to completely clean off the old gasket, and now it's leaking.
