I'm going through the same **** right now lol.
We'll i haven't started on the rear suspension yet but the rust.. well all i can say is damned salt states..
tools: basic tool set(to remove wheel, strut, ect), Grinders(rent, buy or borrow from rich friend ), Sanders, welder(borrow?), way to cut metal, undercoat, think thats it.
here it is before i even touched it,
first remove the wheel, remove the strut, unbolt the hard line to soft line holder thing.i then proceeded to get a medium sized hammer and smash out all of the lose metal, wear safety glasses..
I hooked up my little air grider with a 40 grit pad to break all the loose metal up.
ended up with this..
Then brought out the big guns, electric grinder, and let the sparks fly.
Sorry for the blurry pic, im wasn't taking it
but the goal is to get to good bare metal, go as far as you have to. and i now see that the hard line must come off, this was all wensday night. Thats as far as i got. Next steps would be remove hard line, cotinue grinding, make patch out of cardboard, transfer patch to metal, cut metal, tack weld for fitment, weld, undercoat, retap holes for hardline?, and enjoy.
and ps thats not even the bad rust... muwhahhaboth quarter panels
the trunk...and yes i can stick my fist through my car, and end up in the trunk..
