Ok so I searched as best as I could for the cause of this here and through asking a number of my mechanic freinds and I cant figure this out. I have a 1991 240 SX, which I was bleeding the clutch on earlier today and unfortunatly allowed air into the system through the cylinder. Untill then I had no problems and everything had been going fine, so i refilled the cylinder with more fluid and went to re-bleed it to get the newly introduced air out and now the clutch wont come all the way back up, and I cant fully dissengage the clutch any more. I have bleed out about 2 times the capacity of the entire system now and it still wont work and I know that the bleeder is closed compleatly and there is no leak does any one have any ideas what the heck is going on here?

shrugs...

did you pull the pedal all the way back up w/ your hand? and the rod connecting to that pedal went along w/ it?

how about on the clutch slave cyl end... did it retract back? meaning the piston rod went back into the cylinder?

crack open the bleeder screw on the slave, make sure the piston rod & clutch fork end is back towards the cyinder again..

do what they call "gravity bleeding" for a bit...

leaving the bleeder screw open & constantly topping off the master cyl w/ brake fluid...until a nice stream of fluid is present.

then do the bleeding process w/ teh pedal-open/closing of the screw

ok so I tryed the gravity bleed and it did nothing no more air then before. At this point I have blead it from the valves at both the cylinder and the little box thing and by the way if any one knows what the box is that the line goe into before going to the cylinder I would appriciate the proper name so as to stop calling it "that weird box thing." the only real progress is that I pulled the valve from the box all together and un-clogged it because it wasn't flowing at all. I am still very confused could some one please give me something, any thing??

ahh, the stupid clutch dampener...

that's your problem, as w/ other people doing a bleeding process... air gets trapped thurr as you have noticed 1st-hand...

you can eliminate it & carefully bend the metal line towards your slave cyl & reconnect the rubber hose from there...

don't believe me? do a search
