Hey guys I've been trying to clean up my 5 speed swap that was put into my car. It was only half way complete when I got the car. I'm using the auto ecu and the auto harness with the 5 speed transmission. The only thing I care about on the transmission is the speed. SO I hooked those 2 wires up and when I drive the speedometer shows about double my speed (when I go 45 it shows like 75). Can anyone help?

Is the speed sensor from a USDM transmission so that it senses miles per hour intead of kilometers per hour? I'm not sure if that's the problem but 45 mph is approximately 72 kph so that would be my guess...

I was thinking that too, untill I looked at the lil kph on the speedometer, and realized unless a jdm cluster only goes to like 80 mph theres no way it would all fit on the speedometer gauge lol.

are you using the auto or manual speed sensor? I know in the s13's they are different. Your problem should be simple. Not too in depth at all.

thats a good question and I have no way of anserwing it (anyone have pics of one?). It seems like manual speed sensor, but I really don't know. Like I said the Swap was half way done when I purchased the car like 6 months ago, and I didn't really care about the speed untill now (well I also memorized the speed by looking at the tach, and driving other peoples 240's haha)

i too have had the same problem after my 5 speed swap. i heard a few other people have had the same problem too. still unsucessful in fixing it but i got use to the thing now.

here are things i triedchanged clusterchanged speed sensor (another used one that someone said was off an s14)changed ecu to manual one

so far unsucessful, my next bet is that the transmission's teeth that connects the speed sensor, some are missing or something thats why its readings are off.

next i'm going to try to change the transmission.

lemme know if you figure it out, i got stomped and gave up.
